This is one of a new series from Breyer that has you create things. It's a great series, especially this one. You get a gorgeous Classic-sized dappled gray. You also get a book for you to fill out about your "horse". There is a Champion trophy, three cute little carrots, a Breyer feed bag, and the supplies and instructions to make a halter and two blankets. It's a lot of fun, exept I would reccomend getting some fabric glue---the give you is a little weak if you don't have the patience to hold it together.

Well, I got this ahwile ago I got this toy and I was very excited. I made the blanket but it was a hassel. The glue didn't work, and the instuctions are a bit ocnfusing, but It is fun when your done!!!

This Breyer Horse kit is very fun you can make blankets for horses and a halter for this cute little Dapple Grey model. Don't trust the glue tho it stinks go out and buy a fabric glue it will work much better. These model is so cute and from the classic line I think.

A very nice addition to Breyer's line. The new craft series offers many options for model horse hobbyists and budding artists such as kits allowing you to paint you own model, take realistic photographs of your collection, and even sculpt your own horse. These kits are especially nice because they teach skills that the young collector can carry on with them long after the given supplies run out.

In this kit you are given a very lovely classic scale model that is unique to this set. You can not get him any where else. You are also given a supply of tack making essentials and some fun props for display.

The materials given are of an acceptable quality but are not meant for longterm use and do not wear well. However, the principle is what counts. The supplies allow the crafter to construct basic and attractive halters and saddle pads while teaching them about working with very small parts. This set also helps to teach horse lovers some basic tack terminology.

The budding tack maker will soon run out of supplies. I suggest that if this is being bought as a gift it would be a good idea to supplement it with some jewelry making supplies such as waxed linen (which can be used to make very lovely braided halters and bridles), small sheets of felt or samples of nice fabric, and perhaps even jump rings for the halter hardware (jump rings are the small round loops used in jewelry making). Embroidery floss is very useful, too. As your skills become greater you can even try your hand at using leather lace, just like the Breyer tack uses. As I mentioned before, this kit teaches very useful skills and with a little imagination many craft store finds can be turned into fun model horse tack.

The glue provided is very basic and nontoxic. A better alternative would truly be a fabric, leather or even super glue but I suggest that a beginner start with what is included in the kit before moving on to more professional supplies. The first attempts won't be perfect so remember to be patient and if your child becomes frustrated offer lots of encouragement! They'll soon be making realistic and beautiful props in no time.
