This Book Was Awesome,
By A Customer
This review is from: Breyer Molds & Models: Horses, Riders, & Animals 1950-1995 (Hardcover)
This is a great book that is packed with information. It is great because I have read it three times and everytime I learn something new. This book is really helpful because I started a 4-H club for model horses and it is a great source of information for a club of basically new collectors. Sure, the prices are really low but I can figure out how much a horse is worth by comparing prices in the book. Anyways, a horse isn't worth how much a book says, but how much someone is willing to pay for the horse.

This review is from: Breyer Molds & Models: Horses, Riders, & Animals 1950-1995 (Hardcover)
I found this book very helpful for identifying models that are not so common, and also to bring me up to speed on all the new models since I have been out of the hobby for nearly seven years. Her information was well reseaeched, and she did a lot of indepth interviews with Breyer executives and sculptors to get as much info as possible. I did find her values to be a bit on the low side for what models are typically selling for nowdays. But all in all, for the information alone, it's a really valuable book!

The Best Breyer Book,
This review is from: Breyer Molds & Models: Horses, Riders, & Animals 1950-1995 (Hardcover)
I cannot over stress how GREAT this book is. It has pictures of nearly every model Breyer has ever made (enjoy the wedgewood Fury, pink and blue elephants, and Emporers Gold Bar, a SR SM with a unique base). This is the most complete, accurate and informative book available. It is seperated into two sections for ease of use: pictures, and text info. The values are pretty close to what Breyers SELL for (most of the SM's I buy are $1-2), with exceptions. Some say the high end prices are a bit low, but they are right in line with what I pay. Overall this book can't be beat, to the serious collector or antique dealer, anyone can use and enjoy this book.

Beautiful book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Breyer Molds & Models: Horses, Riders, & Animals 1950-1995 (Hardcover)
Good points: Well written with lots of good humor thrown in, most specimens beautifully photographed, great informational appendix! Also most values are just about right. I wish some antique dealers would take a look at this book! I'm still finding way too many overpriced Breyers(i.e. Hereford Bull for $69 that's still available RETAIL at half that!) Wake up antique dealers! Just becuz it's a Breyer doesn't mean it's worth megabucks! Bad points- some values are TOO low(like on the decorators) some photographs were too dark, many specimens not pictured that are sure to have SOME reference pix out there if the author had raken the time to look. Happily this is a minor problem! Eagerly anticipating the next edition!

The Breyer Bible,
By
This review is from: Breyer Molds & Models: Horses, Riders, & Animals 1950-1995 (Hardcover)
Breyer Molds & Models is the best book available on Breyer Models. Period. It includes color pictures of most of the models produced. The listings mention all the stuff you might want to know about a model: dates produced, colors, interesting history bits, and more. Values are listed, but please use these with care and only after reading the Preface that discusses the basis for valuation. This book is well-worth the money to any serious Breyer collector.

A must for the collector!,

This review is from: Breyer Molds & Models: Horses, Riders, & Animals 1950-1995 (Hardcover)
Most of the photos are great. Some should have been thought out a little better, like putting a dark horse on a light background and a light horse on a dark background, as a few are hard to see. I've also found that the listed values run about 1/2 of what market value is on most items. All in all it is very informative and I love having photos to reference, especially when a rare model and a common model have minor differences that you need to know what you're looking for to be able to tell them apart. I can find fault in almost anything, but I LOVE THIS BOOK!

Great book for Breyer collectors, a good read for anyone.,
This review is from: Breyer Molds & Models: Horses, Riders, & Animals 1950-1995 (Hardcover)
I collect Breyer horses and have since I was a kid. This book informed me that some of my older figurines (the ones I picked up, as a horse-crazy adolescent, for $10) are now worth a couple hundred bucks. And it let me know that the Breyer "deer family" at the local antique mall is vastly overpriced, so I didn't waste my money. Besides being a good price guide, the book is well written and full of wonderful anecdotes. For example, did you know there are pink and green Breyer horses? These very rare pieces were made when the factory was trying to clean errant dye out of the molds. (The colorful figurines were supposed to be destroyed, but somebody smuggled them out...) A great book for collectors, a fun read for anyone, and the pictures are excellent
