5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic model
If you're wondering why I gave Zippo a 5 for educational, I'll tell you why. I know a 5 year old girl with a barn full of model horses. She takes care of them as if they were real. She gives them baths, pretending the soap is 'fungus shampoo' to get rid of rain-rot and the like, her water troughs are filled with real water, and when she gets a new breyer, she keeps it in...

i got a breyer and i was so excited but the minute it came out of the package it's leg broke of, so for durability i don't think it even deserves a star.

If you're wondering why I gave Zippo a 5 for educational, I'll tell you why. I know a 5 year old girl with a barn full of model horses. She takes care of them as if they were real. She gives them baths, pretending the soap is 'fungus shampoo' to get rid of rain-rot and the like, her water troughs are filled with real water, and when she gets a new breyer, she keeps it in a separate paddock for a while so it can get 'used' to the other horses. Her horses have regular workouts; she disciplines them if they misbehave, and frequently go to pretend shows. However, they often come up with dramatic illnesses (she enjoys calling the pretend vet) and die, only to come back to life right after we 'bury' it. Breyer models encourage creativity, and the practice of real horse care. That's 5 stars for educational AND fun. However, this isn't the kind of toy you step of sit on, as their legs tend to break. But if you're careful, I reccomend them for any horse enthusiast, whether they're only 5 years old or an adult. I myself have a barn full.

This new model of an American Quater Horse is in a western pleasure trot and has a very intelligent face. He is the cutest breyer horse out of my collection. He looks good in any tack and is great for young children

The world of model horse collecting & showing is as vast & varied as the world of real horses. Dating back to the mid-60s, model horse collecting came into its own in the 70s & early 80s. Breyer horses are the original, and staple fodder for this wonderful hobby. This is one of Breyers newest molds, produced in response to collector demand for more modern models that better reflected the change in breed types since the dates of the first Breyer molds in the 50's & 60's. Zippo Pine Bar was a famous American Quarter Horse who changed the face of Western riding.

Eductional value of this model & other Breyer collectibles is endless, because the model horse showing hobby is based on reproducing the real horse world in miniature. All the current breed & show standards that apply to real horses apply to the model horse world. It is a great way for young horse enthusiasts to learn about the care & showing of real horses without the financial committment of buying a real horse.

I think Zippo Pine Bar is a very great breyer horse to own. He's very pretty especially his coloring. He is very durable to I have had him 4 1 year and he has fell off a very tall shelf and there wasn't even a scratch on him. This particular model is also very easy to show due to the way he is standing. Overall i think he is a great breyer horse for people of all ages.

Breyer models are by far the most detailed of any model horse you can buy, plus they look identical to the horse they were made after. Just like any real animal, they are fragile, but i myself have many breyer models, and none of mine have ever broken, since i handle them carefully. Breyers are a collecters item, an thus should be treated so, more of a set up an pose than a play with, but i own a real horse who is a descendent of zippo pine bar, an the information booklet zippo comes with is very informative.

Now, I only have 3 Traditional sized models and 6 classic size breyers, but I think Zippo is my best one. I've wanted him ever since I knew Breyer horses existed. I finally got him about 3 or 4 weeks ago. The reason he only gets 4 durable stars is because, it looks like he has rub marks on the ends of his ears but I think it may just be the lighting. He is in a very good walk postition and his ears are pricked forward. His forlock hangs down between his eyes. His tail is sort of hanging/blowing back. He looks very nice. But on each of his legs he has a blue spots. I kno they were meant to be there. Does anyone know what those are?

In response to the 2nd one down from this, the blue spots are his chestnuts, who knows why they're blue. This is a very pretty model, and although he is protected by a metal corral most of the time,I sometimes play with him,and he is very resistant. He has little rub marks, but who cares? He looks prettifull with the Western Cimmaron Saddle and the bridle that goes with it.Especially since they had to search for one of these because it was retired.I like to think he was the last one of his kind left.

I ride horses a lot, especially at one barn called Laurel Ridge Farm. Now, the first horse owned by the family that lives there ever was a georgous chestnut quarter horse, zippy. he went on to be a champion, and offers of $50K + were poured in and out of the show ring. However, now the horse has had West Nile, etc., which has stopped his showing days. However, he lived up to his famous Grandpa-Zippos Pine Bar. Zippy [the horse I know] is proud today and 'brags' anbout his Gramps being made into a model. My friend has 3!!!! of the Zippos models. They are nice, but make sure little kids don't get their hands on 'em!!!!Or else...Tjhough they are sturdy, who knows???Be careful-but I must say this sure is one nice horse!!!

Considering I'm a stock horse lover, I went out and got the midstates release of this mold in appaloosa(got from Gebos).
And I also have the Zips Choco Chip.
The connisour models are even better. I wish I knew where to get them. This mold is an EXECELLENT western performance shower!!
