This review is from: Brezhoneg Buan hag Aes: Beginner's Course in Breton (Paperback)
Breton is a beautiful and interesting language, but there are few good resources for English-speaking learners. Seeking to remedy this, Raymond Delaporte adapted Per Denez' Brezhoneg "Buan hag Aes" from the French. Rather than merely translating, Delaporte reworked the text to elaborate on points that would trouble English speakers more than French speakers while tightening up those where French differs from Breton but English not so much. The text is in a traditional form - vocabulary, dialog, exercises - but it gives a clear picture, in English, of Breton grammar on its own terms. If your French is limited but you have an interest in the Celtic languages, this book is worthy of a place on your bookshelf.
