A late night favourite,
By Paul Manos (Sydney, NSW Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brian Lane Green (Audio CD)
This album has become a firm favourite of mine, an automatic choice for the quiet of late nights, dim lights and something soothing to drink . It contains a collection of ballads, given a simultaneously gentle and firm intensity by Brian Lane Green, wonderfully backed by John Bucchino's inventive and interesting piano accompaniment. These two artists have crafted a musical mood that by its restraint and occasional intermittent soaring communicates with heart-tugging effect the emotional undercurrent in each song. Brian Lane Green has a lovely light tonal quality to his voice that never fails to appeal to me with repeated hearing. I particularly like "Never Really Mine To Lose", "I Just Had To Hear Your Voice", "Breathing", "That's The Way I Feel About You". Even better still is "Grateful", John Bucchino's prayer of thanks, a musical glass of clear spring water amidst so many contemporary songs of syrupy angst. It's a wonderful way to conclude the album and my night's listening. Best of all though for me is a wonderful reworking of the Roy Orbison "Crying". Over John Bucchino's gently falling chords, Green's voice carries the melody and almost weeps. As the lyric reaches the revelation that love has not ended, Green's voice "rises" to a whisper while Bucchino's piano emulates the fall of tears. For me, this is a truly beautiful accomplishment, of singer and pianist wonderfully combined.

Possibly the best singer I have ever heard,
By A Customer
This review is from: Brian Lane Green (Audio CD)
Brian Lane Green has created a CD that has become the soundtrack of my life. It is one of the few CD's I own that I can listen to over and over. With each listening I hear something new and my appreciation for his artistic achievment grows. Not since Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis and Roy Orbison has a singer of this caliber appeared.I just hope that more people discover this great performer so that we might have the honor of hearing more from him.

I watched Brian Green on a soap opera and that's what drew me to this CD. When a friend played it, what a wonderful voice! He takes some familiar tunes and makes them unique (He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother). I loved it so much, I bought it for myself and for a friend.
