2.0 out of 5 stars be careful !
I bought this album on the recommendation in a review that this was THE BEST version of "Grateful". I felt that John Bucchino did a better job, more feeling, on his own album entitled Grateful. ALSO ... most important !! DO NOT listen to this CD if you are prone to depression or are in a depressed state.

This review is from: Brian Lane Green (Audio CD)
This album has become a firm favourite of mine, an automatic choice for the quiet of late nights, dim lights and something soothing to drink .

It contains a collection of ballads, given a simultaneously gentle and firm intensity by Brian Lane Green, wonderfully backed by John Bucchino's inventive and interesting piano accompaniment. These two artists have crafted a musical mood that by its restraint and occasional intermittent soaring communicates with heart-tugging effect the emotional undercurrent in each song. Brian Lane Green has a lovely light tonal quality to his voice that never fails to appeal to me with repeated hearing. I particularly like "Never Really Mine To Lose", "I Just Had To Hear Your Voice", "Breathing", "That's The Way I Feel About You". Even better still is "Grateful", John Bucchino's prayer of thanks, a musical glass of clear spring water amidst so many contemporary songs of syrupy angst. It's a wonderful way to conclude the album and my night's listening.

Best of all though for me is a wonderful reworking of the Roy Orbison "Crying". Over John Bucchino's gently falling chords, Green's voice carries the melody and almost weeps. As the lyric reaches the revelation that love has not ended, Green's voice "rises" to a whisper while Bucchino's piano emulates the fall of tears. For me, this is a truly beautiful accomplishment, of singer and pianist wonderfully combined.

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best singer I have ever heard, June 19, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Brian Lane Green (Audio CD)
Brian Lane Green has created a CD that has become the soundtrack of my life. It is one of the few CD's I own that I can listen to over and over. With each listening I hear something new and my appreciation for his artistic achievment grows. Not since Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis and Roy Orbison has a singer of this caliber appeared.I just hope that more people discover this great performer so that we might have the honor of hearing more from him.

5.0 out of 5 stars heard it and had to buy it, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Brian Lane Green (Audio CD)
I watched Brian Green on a soap opera and that's what drew me to this CD. When a friend played it, what a wonderful voice! He takes some familiar tunes and makes them unique (He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother). I loved it so much, I bought it for myself and for a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music That Moves, August 3, 2005
This review is from: Brian Lane Green (Audio CD)
Brian Lane Green has the ability, the gift, to make music to move your feet and move your soul. A genuine artist, a creator of what moves the world, song; listen to him and you will find a new sense of faith and passion in your soul and you will walk, at least for a bit, on air. Both he and the label producing the album are credits in a world of deficit. Thank you for your gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Brilliant and Heart Pounding Selection From A Huge Talent!, December 19, 2004
By
This review is from: Brian Lane Green (Audio CD)
I've had this CD for a few years now and just can't say enough about it. BLG is a terrific talent whose career has ranged from Broadway to touring shows to top vocal ensembles to a solo cabaret act. Why he is not a bigger star reflects the fact that the American public is basically a group of unsophisticated, non-musical idiots whose idea of talent is Ms. Spears et al! This is the real thing, kids, so buy this before it goes out of print. Hopefully, we will see a new CD from this brilliant song stylist soon. It's been too long already!

I've been feeling a bit depressed for the past 2 weeks. I'm a New Yorker who lives a few miles from the World Trade Center. I had acquired this CD a few weeks ago and had not opened it. Well, I played it today and it's amazing. His voice, the material, the production -- all fantastic and inspiring. The man has a gorgeous voice and I liked the material. Most of the songs are the standard cabaret selections; however, the arrangements by Bucchinno make them fresh and interesting. Mr. Green's voice is just plain gorgeous. If you're a cabaret fan, I believe you will enjoy this uplifting CD. It made some sadness disappear for a short while.

Brian Lane Green has recorded such a beautiful CD words are useless! This Man's voice is one of the most magical ever recorded. Track 1 and 5 are O.K. the rest of the songs have to be heard to be believed. Do yourself a favor and try this CD you won't be sorry. The arrangements are breathtaking & stunning!
