Amazingly Creative Book that's Great for Kids and Adults,
By
This review is from: The Brick Testament: The Ten Commandments (Hardcover)
This is another great book by the creator of the wonderfully creative website, The Brick Testament. If you've read the previous Brick Testament books, or even if you haven't you will absolutely love this one. It's great for kids - bundle this book with a box of Lego for a great gift - as well as adults.
This book depicts many of the well known stories of the Bible involving Moses. These stories are great for kids; I have much fondness of my mother telling me her favorite Bible story as a child - Moses' mother and sister protect him by floating him in a reed basket on the Nile. Smith is obviously very imaginative in translating the Bible to Lego, and is even able to render effectively all ten plagues of Egypt. Frogs, beetles, locusts - you name it! One of my favorite things about this book is extremely subtle. Moses ages from a baby to an old man in the course of this book. It's fun to go through the book and see how this occurs little by little in Lego - one step is just the addition of bushy old man eyebrows!

A surprisingly excellent usage of Legos,
By Sekais "the Anarchist" (The Empire) - See all my reviews

If you haven't figured it out yet, this product is highly critical of Christianity. However, everything in it is essentially just stuff in the Bible, anyway, only depicted in Lego form (the fact that at least a few Christians take offense to it despite this is very telling...) I highly recommend it to anyone who is in the mood for a good laugh and has a problem with the religious fundamentalism in the US these days.

hilarious...,

...but even funnier than the Reverents books are the reviewers who only rated his books one star. Those sad souls apparantly never read their bible. The funniest side of this whole Brick Testament series is the fact that the text is straight from the bible - no glossing over sex, violence and absurdity. Read it, laugh at it and laugh at yourself for thinking that the Bible is about peace, love and understanding. It is about sex, violence and suppression of women, slaves and anybody who does not belong to your little religious group. No wonder it's been such a bestseller...

This book is a must have for anyone who loves humor! The creativity of the Lego artist is amazing. The representations are true to the text, even to the point of visually portraying some of the weirdest parts of the bible. I LOVE this man's work.

Divine Inspiration,

James 2:21-22 "Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac as sacrifice on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did."
Brendan Powell Smith's faith is complete; he has molded his faith into LEGO pageantry and his works will be your pleasure. Pick it up... its his version of marching his child up a mountain in order to slay him on the altar; and unless you are humorless, it'll slay you.

If you have a child that is a fan of LEGOs, then they will just love this book. It is creatively done with LEGO building bricks and minifigs yet still relays the christian teaching message.
If you are an AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego)or a collector of this building toy, this would be a nice addition to your collection. I would like to continue to see many more teachings thru the LEGO medium and more books about building techniques with this diverse toy.

You can see the contents of this book and the author's other work at [...]. Also check out the author's own website [...]. Very creative work however this is not geared towards children. There was a comment above about wrapping this with a box of legos for your child. Don't do that. Parents do your homework first!!!!

Great for Lego fans,
This review is from: The Brick Testament: The Ten Commandments (Brick Testament) (Hardcover)
I bought this book (and the others by the same author) for my brother who is a huge Lego fan. He actually read them all and loved them, whereas before it was difficult to get him to read other books with kids' versions of Bible stories.

uses actual biblical quotes,
This review is from: The Brick Testament: The Ten Commandments (Hardcover)
I think it is very telling that there are those who are offended by this book. It doesn't proselytize or preach, it just uses direct quotes from the bible and uses Legos to illustrate the scenes. If this offends you, then look to the source material, not this book, for the offense. Very Entertaining and an excellent resource for parents to use with preteens to give them an honest and objective view of what the Bible ACTUALLY says.
