Book Description

August 13, 2008
Not knowing what tomorrow holds may be a blessing in itself....... Had I known the drastic twists and turns that it would cause in my life, I perhaps would not have said "Hello" to a woman that I met on the internet....... What ensued was an almost 3 year, intense, pay it forward experience like none you could imagine, nor would ever want for yourself or wish on anyone....... We take chances in life on what we think is the right thing to do....... The journey I embarked upon, saving a woman's life in the process, is an unforgettable one and I would do it again with no regrets........ Brick Wall shows what can happen when what we want collides with reality. While it could have happened to anyone, most would have never pursued the path that I took without hesitation....... and you know what? I am glad that I did because I am now embarking on a better life than I had ever dreamed of because of it.......

More About the Author

John had always said that he wanted to be a writer but thinking back he isn't sure of why or when it entered his mind. It had probably started in high school but wasn't because of English class. While he loved reading, English certainly wasn't one of his favorite subjects. At the time "To be or not to be..." wasn't one of John's questions.

The desire to write was destiny's reminder to him that there were things he would one day accomplish, WHEN the time was right. However, as too often happens in life, as most of us know, we rarely find time to chase our dreams.

Then one day, out of the blue, destiny stepped back in.

After many years of marriage, John and his wife had decided to part ways, to enjoy their lives separately to the fullest. It would be a positive thing for both of them.

But it was not to be as planned. Before the divorce was finalized, his wife was killed in a car accident. Instead of becoming divorced, he became a widower, alone for the first time in his life.

The unusual circumstances that followed, together with the early days of internet chatting, unknowingly set John on a course to chase his dream to be a writer, but only after a series of hard to believe twists and turns in the new found life into which he had been plunged.

John threw himself headfirst into the internet and its social scene. One day a short story popped into his head but he did not put it to paper. The story stayed in his mind, teasing him for many years. It never left him and one day he got the urge to write it.

He used personalities of people he had met online and molded them into his first fictional, internet based, romance - Mr. Baggins. His online friends were very receptive of the story but at the time, he took it no further. Nevertheless, the journey had begun.

Several long distance internet relationships ensued and in the process John learned the intricacies of online romance, love and heartbreak.

He wrote a few more romantic short stories but in July 2007 something happened.

John needed to diffuse some very intense emotions brought on during a five hundred mile relationship that had started online and progressed to in person. The emotions channeled into his first poem titled "If Only."

He had never written a poem before and it felt so natural. The results were very pleasing. The next months brought more of those intense feelings and his emotions would effortlessly pour into his keyboard.

As a result, a compilation titled "Love's Wall" was released March 2008. It was John's first book and contains those writings together with whimsical and internet based romantic themes.

Having written about the feelings, it became apparent that he should write about the extraordinary events causing them. "Brick Wall" was released August 2008.

"Brick Wall" tells an intriguing romantic adventure and "Love's Wall" shares how it felt.

Upcoming are books of the short stories and more poems.

Until then, pamper yourself or friends with the gifts of romance that last a lifetime - "Brick Wall" and "Love's Wall" - available at all major online bookstores such as Amazon (free shipping) and Barnes & Noble. Autographed copies are to be available from John for Christmas 2009. Details will be posted on his website - johnpeterdavis.com

The internet is a curious blend of fact and fiction. Where one ends and the other begins is often impossible to detect as is seen in John Peter Davis's writings.

(In 2009, John found lasting love on the internet and for the first time in his life has become "Daddy John" to an instant family of kids (3 of which are 9, 10 & 10, including 2 divas). He is totally immersed in autism and ADHD for the first time also! That should inspire some interesting stories! Stay tuned...)

A real page turner! I couldn't put it down! This book is written so much from the heart of a person who sacrifices himself and his world to help a friend in need. A story no one would think could possibly be true, but it is, every word of it. John puts the reader right there with him. Find out what happens in the end, it may surprise you. An amazing story from an awesome writer!

I think this is an awesome book as do all who have read it. I am of course biased because I am the author, but I also appreciate great work when I read it. The story is powerful to read. Proof? March 2009, a woman purchased my books. We ended up starting a correspondence online and in March 2010 we were married on the 1 year anniversary of our meeting. The power of the written word...

Hence my motto - Love - Find it - Just a click away...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brick Wall Review, October 10, 2009
This review is from: Brick Wall (Paperback)
John Peter Davis shares his three years experience of a relationship with a woman he met on the internet. The twist and turns of life and emotions will hold you captive to the surprising ending. I also found it very refreshing and compelling to have this adventure told from a man's perspective. The author manages to make you feel as if you are right there living the events with him. In a time when internet relationships are more and more prevalent, Brick Wall will make you stop and re-evaluate your initial feelings...but then again, the lessons learned would apply to any relationship no matter what the origin. Definitely a five star plus book. I would highly recommend the book as an excellent gift for any occasion.
