I own this on cassettte and played it at least twice a day in my car until my tape deck took it hostage. If you like Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchett, et al, you will love this. It is hard-rocking with excellent vocals.Try to forget that Johnny is Donny's brother and just listen to the man. Excellent!

Johnny Van Zant teamed up with Dann Huff (Giant) & created one of the best albums & the best single of all time. I am referring to the song/album Brickyard Road (Tribute to his brother Ronnie). If you like guitar then this single is for you. More noteworthy songs are: Three Wishes, Love Is Not Enough & Take Every Beat Of My Heart. The song Brickyard road is the most special song ever written. My dad loved the song because it reminded him of his dad who died a very long time ago, and I never really understood why. But now my dad is gone and I can deffinately see what he meant. I want to say that this song makes me cry every time I hear it. I love this song.

This cd is an absolute must have especially if there is one ounce of a Skynyrd fan in you! Johnny has simply made a beautiful "Tribute" song in Brickyard Road,to his older brother Ronnie Van Zant; in my opinion. If you know your Skynyrd history, the Van Zant boys lived on Brickyard Road as young adults & of course Melody which this song refers to in one part was Ronnie's daughter. An absolute masterpiece & a legend on his own, Johnny still carries on the Skynyrd legacy. This is a cd that you can listen to over & over and never tire of.

This an excellent CD, it is wonderful, ecspecially Brickyard Road, that song is my absolute favorite. I believe that song was slightly hard to write since he had to drudge up old memories of him and his brothers and having lost a loved one recently it is hard to bring those memories back to reality.

Five years after the melodic rock classic Van Zant was released, Johnny Van Zant was back to doing solo material with 1990's Brickyard Road. Towards the second half of the `80s, a lot of the Southern rock mainstays had moved in a more radio-friendly AOR direction, and Johnny Van Zant did it better than most.

Brickyard Road is somewhere in between the full-on Southern rock of Johnny Van Zant's early albums and the arena rocking Van Zant debut. It's got that Southern swagger and soul, but is also very polished and melodic with plenty of keyboards. It's a good mix of sounds, and the songs are very well written, whether they're personal songs like the emotional title track or the soundtrack-ready "Young Girls" or the party rockin' "Party in the Parking Lot."

Brickyard Road is obviously going to appeal to Southern rock fans, but just fans of the late `80s melodic rock sound displayed on the first Van Zant album should definitely check this one out. It's just a really well put-together, really fun rock album.

Edition Notes: Wounded Bird reissued Brickyard Road in 2005. It's a typical WB reissue, meaning no remastering, no bonus material, and next to no liner notes.

Enjoy, once a skynard fan always a skynard fan.It rocks, It's southern, and sends us to that whitebird.

I think this cd proves Johnny is the only singer that could replace his brother Ronnie. This cd was made before he became LS singer, this is a good example of what was to come. Good voice, good songs, good musicians.

This CD is a MUST HAVE for all ya'll SKYNYRD fans out there (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE)! Gimme'a Hell Yeah! Brickyard Road is the greatest. Long live "Ronnie"!~

"Brickyard road" is a blend of southern rock and pop-metal. Johnny Van Zant is the brother of the late Ronnie Van Zant (Lynyrd Skynyrd's original singer) as well as Donnie Van Zant (38 Special) - could their dad's name be Sonny and their mother's Bonnie?. Anyway, most of the songs on this album is rather average or mediocre but that doesn't mean they're worthless - they're just not outstanding. But the song "Brickyard road" (about the feelings for Ronnie) is really great, and clearly show that Johnny Van Zant can do much better than primary shown on this album.
