3.0 out of 5 stars A little too informational about Plywood, July 8, 2006
This review is from: Bridal Affair (Signet) (Paperback)
I have an older edition of this book (1972 anyone?) and wow can I tell how dated this is at times. Several of the main characters (hero and heroine) are casual smokers, all sorts of jabs at femminisim and a ridiculous plot about a plywood mill. Complete with a chapter going into very detailed depth on the plywood process.

Jean is the heroine, who has inherited this mill from an uncle, along with some silly clause in the will about all of her actions being above reproach. This gets muddled when she is stranded in a neighbor's cottaged. Grant, our dashing hero is an attempt at mysterious, mostly he's pretty surly, and I am not sure how they fall in love. The accidental marriage is one thing (yes they end up married before they even know each others middle names) but how they are in love by the end of the book. I don't know.

The supporting characters are pretty amusing, Rick the paperboy with his four-foot iguana, Max. Doreen, the neice of Jean's executor is a fun redhead and Toby Jean's supposed wooer (he really just wants her property, but otherwise he's a nice guy).

I wasn't particularly interested in this plot and it took me alot longer to read than any other paperback romace I have read in a long time.

I liked how it ended as it began though.
