Book Description

December 27, 2004 Thoroughbred (Book 65)

While cleaning out the spare bedroom at Whisperwood in preparation for the expected baby, Samantha and Tor come across their wedding album, stored away since their return from Ireland several years before. They settle down to relive the events that led up to their day, and we slip back twelve years in time.

When Samantha and Tor decide to marry, Samantha starts planning the most glorious wedding Kentucky has ever see. But as the date nears, disaster follows disaster, forcing the plans aside. A barn fire at Whisperwood, Tor's family's farm; a nasty wreck on the track that puts Ashleigh in the hospital; Samantha is starting to think that she and Tor aren't supposed to get married. Finally it looks like things are going right, but just a few days before the wedding, she and Tor find a horse in need of rescuing, and they spend the money set aside for the wedding and their honeymoon to save the animal. Samantha accepts the fact that there isn't going to be any fabulous ceremony, until Ashleigh steps in and offers Whitebrook for the wedding. In the end, Tor and Samantha have their wedding on horseback at Whitebrook, with all the special touches to make it the most wonderful day of Samantha's life.

3.0 out of 5 stars finally!, January 7, 2005

(REAL NAME)
okay...so my thoughts. i actually really liked sammy and tor as a couple in this book, the opening scene between the two of them was cute and funny. and usually i hate tor, so this is a big compliment to mary coming from me. throughout the book, despite sappy moments, their relationship is one you root for. um...other than that, i liked the smattering of old whitebrook horses, especially mentions of precocious and other whitebrook favorites. the reasons the wedding kept being postponed were believable for the tb series, and the ceremony itself didn't let me down. this book was SOOOO much better than the last flashback books with cindy, and definitely trounces derby fever. it actually does justice to the older characters. it didn't even really ruin sammy like i know we were all afraid it would. so all in all, it was a good, cute book, and it gets 3 1/2 to 4 stars and has me willing and kind of curious about the next one. my only major complaint was that it's kind of hard to place this book on the tb timeline. sammy is supposed to be 23 and cindy is supposed to be 17, but i think all these flashback books and previous mistakes and confusion make it just too hard to place.

hopefully editors will listen to reader demand, which inspired this book, and reconsider their decision to end the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clears a lot of stuff up, June 4, 2004
By A Customer
The plot in this book isnt much only deserving 2 or 3 stars, but the reason i gave it 4 was becuz it clears a lot up about old characters such as what ever happened to max? or mandy? or maureen and yvonne? len? Plus you find out why samantha dissapeared to ireland and started eventing.

Basically the tale of Samantha's wedding, but worth it to find out about characters that disapeared.
