5.0 out of 5 stars The premier book on intercession
I have been a Christian for almost thirty years now, I have been in the ministry for almost twenty three years of that thirty. One of the key focuses of my ministry has from the very onset been prayer.

It would not be an exxageration to say that I have read dozens of books on prayer, by many authors, representing many diverse streams of Christian thought.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bridal Intercession never mentions Daniel!
I have read many prayer books, and this one is at the bottom of the list. The author does not believe in travailing or groaning in the spirit. He speaks against praying against spiritual strongholds over nations, and Daniel does all this when he weeps over Israel. The author should have mention Daniel chapter 9 on how he weeps over the sins of the nation and inturn tears...

5.0 out of 5 stars The premier book on intercession, January 22, 2002
This review is from: Bridal Intercession: Authority in Prayer Through Intimacy with Jesus (Paperback)

But in all of the books I have read on prayer, I have never been impacted by any like I was when I read Gary Weins' Bridal Intercession. Gary has done what every Christian author would give his proverbial right arm to be able to do, namely to not only assimilate and distribute information about his subject (as crucial as that is), but also to impart a burning passion to see the truths presented birthed in the hearts and minds of the reader.

A warning! If you only see prayer as a cerebial exercise, or simply a spiritual discipline, Bridal Intercession isn't the book for you.

But if, in the core of your being, you sense that our Bridegroom God has a plan, not just "a plan", but a divine strategy to see the heart of our Glorious King birthed and released through cooperative intercession in such a manner that the very spiritual atmosphere of whole cities are eternally affected, then this book will be a tool in the hand of the Master Potter in transforming your very being; igniting a fire on the altar of your heart that will never go out. To what end? That in reality the Kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdom of our Christ.

As a writer and author myself, as the director of Passion for Jesus Ministries, as a watchman called to work in the establishing of a day and night house of prayer in my city; as one called to invite and train others to participate in the greatest calling afforded to the sons of men, namely joining in with the Soverign Lord in the establishing of His Kingdom on earth, I am always on the lookout for resources that can be given and used without reservation.

Bridal Intercession is one such tool.

I wish I had written it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes me hear wedding bells, February 28, 2004
By
This review is from: Bridal Intercession: Authority in Prayer Through Intimacy with Jesus (Paperback)
I can sincerely claim that I have begged, borrowed or purchased well over 100 books on prayer since the beginning of the 1990s when God began to awaken me with a calling to intercession. I'm not claiming expertise in stating this, but simply to state that this book truly stands out among the best in my experience.

The vehement lovesickness for Jesus that Gary Wiens conveys in this book is contagious. I look for such voices who are venturing ahead into passionate abandonment and are beckoning back to us to follow them as they follow Christ. The author provides a number of biblical insights, recounting the scriptures and then sifting through them to offer us wonderful and impacting statements into both the Person of Christ and the ways of God.

If you are interested in prayer that is fanned by a heart that is ecstatic at being overtaken by Love personified, get this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars prayer that is enjoyable and powerful, March 1, 2004

This book changed my perspective of intercessory prayer and equipped me to pray with joy and power, enjoying intimacy with God and growing in knowing Him more. Of the many books I have read on prayer, this one touched my heart most deeply. Gary exposes the lie behind anxiety-driven prayer and equips us through the Scripture to pray with a confidence and joy that releases the heart of the Father to a hurting world. Prayer that is powerful and enjoyable! I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars "For such a time as This', December 28, 2001

This book comes at a time when there is much talk about how we approach God in prayer. Do we need to plead with God, or is it about sharing the desires of our hearts, in the intimacy of a loving and secure relationship with Him?
Gary Wiens writes with such clarity and tenderness, that draws the reader into a place of longing for that kind of loving intmacy with the God who is so ready to give to His children.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn about prayer in the context of building that kind of intimate relationship with God, through Jesus, which will cause us to have confidence in His goodness and kindness toward us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn to pray as never before, December 28, 2001
This review is from: Bridal Intercession: Authority in Prayer Through Intimacy with Jesus (Paperback)
Through reading Gary Wien's book I have learned to find great joy and intimacy in my times of intercessory prayer. The book is well written and compelling. Using scripture, Gary Wiens paints a picture for the reader of what it is like to approach God with our requests not as a beggar but as a lover. This picture is one that will take you places in intercession that will keep you coming back to your prayer closet for more. This book is one that you will want to own, to refer back to and read again, rather than simply borrow from a friend. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to enhance his or her prayer life.

5.0 out of 5 stars long time coming - praying out of intimacy, January 15, 2002
By
This review is from: Bridal Intercession: Authority in Prayer Through Intimacy with Jesus (Paperback)
Gary Wiens has written a wonderful book for three groups -- those who desire greater intimacy with God, those who want to pray, serve, and speak from the father's heart rather than their own, and those who are tired of trying to get rid of the sins in their lives by keeping the law.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intimacy with God, February 21, 2004

This review is from: Bridal Intercession: Authority in Prayer Through Intimacy with Jesus (Paperback)
This book radically changed my perception of who I was to Jesus. I would pray, but not in confidence or authority and my prayer life suffered because of it. However, this book showed me my (undeserved) authority and gave me confidence in His presence that has overflowed into all areas of my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Answer to Prayer, December 29, 2001
By
This review is from: Bridal Intercession: Authority in Prayer Through Intimacy with Jesus (Paperback)
Gary Wiens book "Bridal Intercession, Authority in Prayer through Intimacy with Jesus" is an answer to prayer. A deeper, closer, more intimate relationship with God has always been my prayer and Gary's book gives a startling perspective on achieving a closeness as His Bride! What could be more intimate!? This idea is astounding, revelatory! To think of God as the Bridegroom rejoicing over us as in Isa. 62:5 is a joy beyond description. HALLELUYAH! Praise the Lord!
Gary's method of writing is easy to read and comprehend; a delight. He uses many interesting personal experiences to convey his point of view along with corresponding scripture references. I highly recommend this book to all and I am thrilled to find it available on Amazon.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Keep Falling In Love Wit Him!, March 13, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bridal Intercession: Authority in Prayer Through Intimacy with Jesus (Paperback)
This is definately the best book I have ever read on the subject of intercessory prayer. This book beautifully answered many of the questions I had concerning the normally infective, draining way intercessory prayer is carried out. Although at times it's necessary to command evil spirits to depart, we don' intercede from a position of "centering" on the enemy. Rather we focus on our Savior in praise, seeking his face. We don't come with a honey do list, but rather rather let Jesus reveal his will to us.

I've seen way to many depressed, worn out intercessors. They got that way from focusing on the enemy and trying to shout him down in the name of Jesus. No matter what name we use or how loud we shout, we're no match for Satan and his demons. But as we center on Jesus, and develop a closeness of fellowship with him, the powers of darkness in our lives will be defeated. Gary Wiens makes the excellent point that Jesus never prayed over territorial spirits, but rahter dealt with setting individual people free.

My favorate part of the book was the discussion of Esther. Even though the king had told Esther she could ask for up to half his kingdom, when she went into the king to plead for the life of her people, she didn't launch into her request that her people be spared or point an accusing finger at Haman, but rather let the king know how much he meant to her. That is what a banquet of wine was all about. It was a time to renew you marriage covenant and pledge yourself to your mate afresh. Esther not only invited the king to one banquet of wine, but two. She also invited her mortal enemy Haman to the banquet and acted as though he weren't even there. He had to watch the romance that took place between the king and queen, until finally she exposed his evil motives.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to love Jesus more., December 28, 2001
By
"dbilling6" (Joplin, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bridal Intercession: Authority in Prayer Through Intimacy with Jesus (Paperback)
Gary Wiens put into words God's answer to my prayer asking Him to show me how to love Jesus more. His book, Bridal Intercession, describes how the Father and the Son are infatuated with us. Gary tells us about the longings in their hearts and the longings in our hearts, too, are for a love affair that lasts for eternity. I was shown that I am not an abandoned widow but a pursued bride. Even when we come up short, like Peter did, Jesus comes back to woo us into a deeper love for and dependency on Him. I have purchased several copies for those who want to sit at His feet and pour out fragrant offerings to the Lover of our souls.
