More About the Author

A transplanted city girl, Carolyne moved to the country when her fiancee and now husband, decided he wanted to farm. The move took quite well and Carolyne learned to milk cows, herd cows, drive a tractor, can, freeze, garden, bake, cook and preserve. She and her husband raised four wonderful children and took in numerous foster children. Somewhere along the way Carolyne decided she wanted to recreate her own version of the romance novels she loved reading. In her writing she yearns to show redemption and change and the chance to start over. Coming home to faith and love is a thread that is woven through every story she writes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Faith, romance and mystery, January 12, 1999

In her third book, Alberta author Carolyne Aarsen's central character is searching for the answers to two questions: what really happened to her father, and when will she find love? The answers to these questions are intrinsically linked to her faith, which stands out in her everyday doings as well as the high- and low-points in her life. The book is well-written and a fun read, as well as being a welcome and "tame" alternative to some of the secular romances that pepper the literary scene. It accomoplishes all of this while avoiding didacticism or pious morality. One of the best aspects of the book is how Alberta small town life is shown realistically and appealingly; the characters' most mundane activities are painted with an expert's sensitivity and knowledge. Whether the character, a journalist, is covering a harvest scene or dealing with an over-inquisitive grandmother, the actions are true to life. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and Carolyne Aarsen's other two books and I look forward to others.

I enjoyed this book very, very much!!! I think Clint is an absolute sweetheart, and the night Nadine found herself in a lot of trouble, I'm glad it was Clint who rescued her!!!

I must admit that I really liked that "made up" guy at first. But when he started being wishy washy, I agreed with Naideen - dump him!!! This was a sweet, clean romance with lots of great kissing (once she got "the guy" and some really good moral lessons...

I especially enjoyed the description of how insignificant we are in this big world, yet God hears us even when we whisper. i actually used that when praying today. It was so profound!

I must admit that the grandma DID get on my nerves, but she grew on me and by the epilogue, I was looking forward to see how she was going to meddle next...I wish her all the luck!
