3.0 out of 5 stars Bride of the Living Dummy
Bride of the Living Dummy is about a girl named Jillian and her sisters, Katie and Amanda. Katie and Amanda have a doll named Mary- Ellen, and they talk to that doll as if the doll were alive. In the morning, the girls try to give Jillian a haircut, because they say that Mary-Ellen said that she needed a haircut for insulting Mary-Ellen the night before. Afterwards,...

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Bride of the Living Dummy (Goosebumps Series 2000, No 2) (Paperback)
I have read every Slappy book made this is second best. It's when Slappy meets these girls and their doll Mary-ellen. Their biggest sister finds the dummy on a trash can outside of the theater and decides to take it home. He almost eats her lizard, destroys her walls. Then later you find out about Mary-ellen. She's alive! She wants to marry Slappy but Slappy wants the big sister Jillian. They get in a fight. It's a great book! not better then Slappy's nightmare(which is my personal favorite)It's good it even has a movie of it's own! READ IT!! IT'S GREAT!

I like this book because it was really scary. It was cool that Slappy wanted Jillian to be his bride instead of Mary Ellen; I thought that was the scariest part. I think R.L. Stine should write more scary books like this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a match made in horror!, March 18, 2005
This review is from: Bride of the Living Dummy (Goosebumps Series 2000, No 2) (Paperback)
Jillian hates her sisters Katie and Amanda. One day while going to the show, Harrison got Slappy because Jimmy O' James did not need him anyway. troubles started at THE ZINMAN FAMILY. First, when they ere asked to go to the party one of their tricks became dangerous and injuried two kids. Next, Jillian's lizard was missing. And last, The birthday of Eddie Simkin. The trouble was they brought Slappy too. Then, he spitted some bad green ooze. Slappy said that his bride Jillian!. WRONG. BECAUSE SLAPPY'S BRIDE IS MARY ELLEN. Mary ellen is Katie and amanda's doll. So order this book now!!!!. Forgot one more thing. When they were in a mansion, they saw a diary of Jimmy and it is about Slappy. It is said that the toymaker who made Slappy is evil.

After a prolonged absence, Slappy; the possessed dummy who comes to life when the magic words in his pocket are read, returns to the Goosebumps books. This is Slappy's fourth appearance. Slappy is as rude and sneaky as ever. However, this time Slappy may have met his match in an overgrown doll named Mary-Ellen. The book, like all of the books with Slappy, is a page turner and finally reveals the true origins of Slappy. I've always found ventriloquist dummys frightening and stories about them to be especially scary. BRIDE OF THE LIVING DUMMY is no exception and is spooky even at the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, but not as good as it can be., November 22, 1998

This book is pretty good, but I did not like the ending. It makes me wonder. But I do think it is one of the best in the series. I liked the whole book until the last page. This book can get pretty scary. This reminds me of the Child's Play movie series except more for kids.

This book had a good plot. Harrison should have been shorter. Mary Anne should have been nicer to the girls. But overall, I loved the book and would recommend to all kids who are 7 years old and older.

My name is Andy. I read this very book and I think it was very well written. At the begining of the book. Jillian, the main character, hates her little sisters. They carry a doll named Mary-Ellen EVERYWHERE! They say that it talks to them. Then,Jillan's mother pursuades her daughter bring her two little sisters to a venquilititst show. The dummy is SLAPPY! After the show, the two sister's want to tell the venquilitist that he was making the dummy say very rude things. Jillian and he friend split up to find them, and then, Jillian hear the man talking to his DUMMY! Is this dummy ALIVE? Or is he just making a show? Jillian's friend finds the dummy in the trash and brings it to Jillian's ohuse. READ THIS BOOK to find out the truth about Slappy! Or is it the dumb doll, MARY-ELLEN?!!!
