4.0 out of 5 stars A great read !, May 15, 2007
This review is from: Bride Of Shadow Canyon (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
On every page something happens and that is what I like most about this book. Not a dull moment! A great hero who has no intention to let a red-haired little missile mess up his life but he stands no change against the innocent showgirl.
Rachel knows what she wants and she knows how to get it. Jed Doulan fights her all the way but it's impossible for him to resist the stubborn beauty.
Bound by a hasty marriage they travel together and Jed really does his best to keep his hands to himself. No luck!
Stacey Kayne writes about Cowboys and Indians as if she lived with them for years and her writing really brings you back to those wild and dangerous days. I loved the part where Rachel and Jed spend time with Running Bear and his family and it made me want to be there.
This book will give you a very happy day and it definitely made me look for other books by Stacey Kayne.

This is the second book I've read by this author, and it's just as good as the first. Kayne is obviously talented. This book gets everything right - great plot, interesting page-turning action, good character development, plausible characters, and a great romance with plenty of sparks. Kayne's writing is easy to read and has a good mix of narration and dialogue that paints a vivid picture without bogging the reader down. I'll be reading more of this author's works for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW, WHAT A GREAT READ., February 2, 2010
This review is from: Bride Of Shadow Canyon (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was the first book that I've read by Stacey Kayne and I was not disappointed. In fact, just the opposite. Wow, what an amazing story, and so very well written. From the very first page, to the very last, Stacey took you on a wonderful journey. I love the characters. There was never ending action, and drama. I couldn't get enough of Jed, and really liked, Rachell as well.

When I later looked up Stacey's website, I was pleased to see she had another book with Juniper as the main character. I'll have to get that one. I would rank Stacey's writing and ability to tell a story with captivating characters, right up there with Jodi Thomas and Linda Lael-Miller. When I see her name in the future on the bookshelf, I won't be able to resist picking up her latest novel and purchasing it. It's always nice to find a new/exceptional author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bride of Shadow Canyon- a beautiful love story fraught with adventure!, July 28, 2010
This review is from: Bride Of Shadow Canyon (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
In this delightful travel-bound Western, Jed Doulan has sworn to retrieve his best friend's sister-in-law from across several state lines and bring her safely home. Due safely by train, Rachell barely takes one step on the boardwalk before she is kidnapped and whisked off by her ex-employeer and obsessive stalker, Mr. Sumner. Jed has a lot more in store for than simply escorting one young lady home to her family- he shows up in a forced blaze of glory to rescue said damsel in distress and start the long journey home fraught with dangers untold. Wild would-be aggressors for Rachell, desert and rapids and mountains, gun fights and more keep the pair busy from fighting their number one danger: their attraction for each other.

Jed spends most his time trying to deny himself the pleasure of the red-headed Imp called Rachell (mostly due to her age and his duty to deliver her safe to her family and the dark shadows from his past that haunt him) and Rachell spends most her time trying to prove that's she's a grown-up and, can not only make her own decisions, but can also take care of herself and stay out of trouble. Once she gets her mindset fixated on Jed, not much will stop her. Her driven attitude about seduction is cute and believable and Jed's attempt to be gentleman-like makes him a worthy hero.

This being my fourth Stacey Kayne novel, I'm quickly realizing that she has an ability to write "cute" characters without being sappy or cheesy. I find myself chuckling and sighing in delight over the antics of her main and side characters. (Yes, I loved reading about young Juniper and couldn't be more thrilled that he has his own story out there...) Further, Kayne does a great job with humor and wit. Her books are a pure pleasure to read and definitely capture the Wild West. Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars You NEED to read Stacey Kayne's books, February 13, 2010

I just finished Stacey Kayne's "Wild" series and all three books were wonderful! I was really sad to see them come to an end but pushed aside my grieving :) to begin her other series starting with "Bride of Shadow Canyon". I couldn't believe how good this book was. I had high expectations and was sure I'd be in for a letdown after three other amazing books, but Stacey Kayne does not disappoint!
She does a fabulous job at really creating relationships between the reader and character. I loved everything about both Jed and Rachell in this story! The part I found especially refreshing was that the two main characters actually communicated with each other from very early on. Yippee! Seems like so many romance novels wait until the last pages for open dialogue between man and woman. I must admit, Jed had me pining for him from the first time I met him. A real man in every sense of the word. Now, if only I could find him in the real world....and what would my husband say? :)
