4.0 out of 5 stars a guide to help you select your ceremony music
All around this is a great cd to purchase if you have no idea about what to use for your ceremony music. It definitely helped me determine what I will use and won't use. The only reason why this cd is 4 stars instead of 5 is that I felt it focused too much on the prelude and the recessional songs, personally I would have preferred a cd that covered the processional...

3.0 out of 5 stars Courante from Three Lutes Dances
This CD has wonderful music but if you want these selections played on a live instrument be careful. There is no sheet music available for some of these. This is distressing because the happy couple in search of a perfect wedding are set up for disappointment when their musician cannot provide them with the piece they want.

The only reason why this cd is 4 stars instead of 5 is that I felt it focused too much on the prelude and the recessional songs, personally I would have preferred a cd that covered the processional music offerings in more depth.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent!, January 6, 2001

The selections are excellent. Most are well-known, and others a bit off the beaten path.

But the best is that they got accomplished artists to do the pieces. Nancy Allen on harp is always great. ASMIF is always great. The others I'm not already familiar with, but there's not a mediocre performance anywhere on the CD. They all play with confidence and spirit.

Most of the wedding CDs out there cheap out on the performance. Not horrible, but any guest who listens to classical music won't be satisfied. I tried a couple of others, and they always left me impatient to "get through" each piece. This CD, on the other hand, is a delight to listen to, from beginning to end.

If you're looking for classical music for a wedding, you need look no further. Or, if you're a DJ (like me), this is a must-have.

Beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Any Bride To Be!!!, September 13, 2001

This CD encompases every classical piece of music that will need to fill your special day with happy memories.I actually bought two (one as a back up) and they were invaluable. The CD is worth it just to hear Canon in D (brilliant for the bridal party to walk down to). Even has suggestions for what to play when with a history of each piece.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never used it, November 17, 2002

I bought this CD thinking I was going to play it at my wedding but I never used one song because I was not happy with the sound. I'm glad I kept looking (and buying!) because I did find another CD at Amazon.com which is much better it's called
"Classical Wedding Traditions" this CD is really fantastic. It was like having great classical musicians for our wedding.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Wedding Music Tape for Searchers!, August 4, 2000
This review is from: Bride's Guide To Wedding Music (Audio CD)
I would highly recommend this tape for someone who is either searching for the right music or has an idea of what you want, but needs specifics. I knew I wanted a combination of traditional and non-traditional music and something from Handel. This version of Handel's "Air to Water Music" is one of the best I've heard - crisp, flowing, and light (some other versions are too heavy and slow). I selected this one for my processional and the bridesmaids and people LOVED IT!!! I just loaned it to another bride-to-be who didn't have a clue about wedding music. Give it a try. It's nice listening music also!

This album provides you with some good reference materials on planning the music for your wedding. Many of us sit around wondering what on earth "Prelude to Te Deum" is. Well, with this album you will wonder no more. This is a pretty good compilation of some wedding favorites set in order that they would appear in your ceremony (prelude, processional, ceremony and recessional). Even if you aren't planning a wedding, this album provides you with some really good classical music to relax by. At a good discount, this CD is a nice addition to any collection. I would recommend this disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars wedding music, July 4, 2000

I felt this is an awesome cd. I especially liked the way it described what piece of music would be used e.g. processional, recessional. I was looking for music for a wedding and was very impressed. We will be able to use most of music in order for someone's wedding.

I bought this cd because I had everything in my wedding planned to the last tiny detail except the ceremony music. All the songs on the cd are nice traditional wedding songs. I did not use any of the music from the cd, but I am glad I bought it because it helped me realize that traditional wedding music was not what I wanted. All and all a nice classical music cd but not for brides who really want a personal ceremony. BTW I went with Enya and Lorena McKennitt.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Reference CD, January 8, 2006
This review is from: Bride's Guide To Wedding Music (Audio CD)
This is a great compilation, CD, along with Bride's Guide to Wedding Music Volume 2, to use as a reference for some of the more popular wedding songs; just about everything on here is standard fare for weddings. All of the musicians are generally superb, and the sound quality is very good. However, this is most useful if you are playing the CD at your wedding, or using it as a reference CD to talk over potential music selections with an organist, a string quartet, etc. Like my review for Volume 2, I only gave it four stars based on practicality, not on quality. If it were just quality, I would give it five stars. I purchased this CD since I am in the process of making my own wedding CD (I am a professional, freelance violinist), and this was nice to listen to, even just as background music for dinner. BTW: beware of reviewers who don't use their names, especially "A music fan." This is most likely the producer of the "Wedding Traditions" CD and he slanders other CDs so his will look better. You'd think that in the wedding music business people would have better ethics, but unfortunately, that's not always the case. The best advice I can give, as a classical musician myself, if to take time to listen to the sound clips, and if possible, try to find them on iTunes where they might sound higher quality. This is the only real way of knowing whether the CD is right for you.
