New York Times Bestselling author Maggie Shayne has published 53 novels, all for major NY Publishers, in her 18 year career. So far. In 2012 she'll be releasing a brand new trilogy dubbed "The Portal" and its books will include MARK OF THE WITCH in October 2012, DAUGHTER OF THE SPELL CASTER in December 2012, and BLOOD OF THE SORCERESS in February 2013, all for MIRA Books.

Maggie has published westerns, category romances, romantic suspense, paranormal romances, urban fantasy, women's fiction, and just about everything in between, and is currently working on her first thriller. Recently, Maggie has begun re-releasing her out of print novels in ebook format. So far these include FAIRYTALE, FOREVER ENCHANTED and ANNIE'S HERO, fantasy-romances she wrote for Avon Books (Harper Collins) in the early 1990's, and a novella WITCH MOON RISING, originally published by Spilled Candy Books.

Of course Maggie's publishers also release E-versions of her works, and it's difficult for the average reader to tell whether an ebook is released by a publisher, or the author herself. Especially books that were previously published by a NY Publishing House. Just look for the "Publisher" listing in the book's information and you'll see what's what. The prices are usually a little bit lower on the books Maggie releases herself.

Maggie lives with her soulmate Lance in a tiny town called Taylor (phone exchange: Truxton, mailing address: Cincinnatus, tax map: Cuyler. Smalltown folks understand!) in New York State's little known but sprawling and gorgeous dairy farm & wine country near the Fingerlakes region. Together they have a pair of Old English Mastiffs (Dozer & Daisy,) a chubby little bulldog (Niblet), an arrogant cat (Glorificus,) a saltwater reef aquarium with two clown fish (Larry & Cill) and two damsels (Vinnie & Blue,) a bearded dragon (Captain Yellow Beard) and a life of utter contentment and joy.

Brides of the Night is an anthology, two stories written by Maggie Shayne and Marilyn Tracy. It was very good and one I would highly recommend.

Twilight Vows written by Maggie Shayne was very good. In 1808, Donovan O'Roark was on the verge of death when he is given the Dark Gift. Immortality. From that moment on, he is now a vampire.

Rachel Sullivan has come back to her homeland. She is seeking to complete her thesis on the haunting tale surrounding Castle Dante. But there is another reason she has come back.

As a young girl, she had encountered Donovan O'Roark or if the tales are true, his ghost. She freely surrenderes her love to him. As she grew older, she believed that those encounters were nothing more than dreams. She is determined to prove that he isn't really there in the castle, awaiting her.

Yet, Rachel, discovers far more than what she initially is seeking. Brimming with danger and sensuality, this story is one you will enjoy.

Married By Dawn written by Marilyn Tracy was, also, very good. Pleasantly different, too. The High Council has sent out vampire Gavin Deveroux to silence a mortal that has issued out a challenge. He hears a laugh not just any laugh but one that ignites his dark desire. He does not know it, yet, but he has found his target.

Tara Michael's only sister had been murdered. Gavin Deveroux is believed to be the killer and she is determined to punish him. That is until she gazes at him. Her growing attraction for him is at odds with her need for revenge.

Yet, things are not as they appear to be. There is somone who is planning his own brand of revenge. This story is filled with menace, sensuality, love and danger. Highly recommended!!

In Ms. Shayne's "Twilight Vows," Donovan O'Roarke was a simple farmer who didn't know he was dying from the belladona antigen in his blood. In Marilyn Tracy's "Married By Dawn," Gavin Deveroux has been sent by The Council to silence Tara Michaels, who has threatened to reveal The Society's existence. Tara believes Gavin killed her beloved sister, and she's willing to do anything to get her revenge.

Two well written stories that prove that chivalry is not quite dead yet. Each hero very willing to die for the woman they love. Each willing to transcend their "limitations" in order to be with the one they love. Rich in description making me feel like I was almost there. I loved both authors writing and look forward to reading more books by them. A must, for romance fans!
