5.0 out of 5 stars A GEM! Naylor's advise could save you thousands!
I love this book! The first half of the book is absoulutely essential to read before you even sign that first check. The second half is all the essential stuff about planning, but takes the twist of telling you not what to do, but rather what to AVOID. I hope that you read this book so you don't have to learn lessons the hard way. Being in the bridal business I...

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful! Read "Bridal Bargains" instead!!!
I have read about 15 books on planning weddings, wedding mistakes, and creative thoughts for your wedding -- and I can safely say that this is the worst one I have read so far!!! I found dozens of "mistakes" that this book condemned as just about the rudest thing you could do to your guests and/or wedding that I have seen in actions at weddings and haven't thought one bit...

I hope that you read this book so you don't have to learn lessons the hard way. Being in the bridal business I expected to know all the lessons already when I read it but I learned so much! This book is an ABSOLUTE GEM and Naylor definitely shows her expertise as she is known as "America's Foremost Wedding Author."

Make this your first purchase for your wedding! Bride's Survival Guide will save you money and time, but most importantly it will help you preserve relationships!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous book! So important to avoid wedding mistakes!, October 2, 2009
This review is from: The Bride's Survival Guide: 150 Mistakes You Should Avoid for the Perfect Wedding (Paperback)
This book is FABULOUS! It helps to prevent so many problems associated with weddings -- with guests, with the bridal party, even with the wedding experts who are working on all of the plans. What a genius idea to list 150 of the most common -- and most unexpected -- wedding conflicts, and then have a great wedding expert tell you how to prevent them, or how to prevent things from getting worse if someone does act badly during your wedding plans. If you want to avoid wedding stress and conflicts, if you want to protect your (or your daughter's) big day from mistakes, get this book! It PREVENTS negativity and stress! Love it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful! Read "Bridal Bargains" instead!!!, March 7, 2011
This review is from: The Bride's Survival Guide: 150 Mistakes You Should Avoid for the Perfect Wedding (Paperback)
I have read about 15 books on planning weddings, wedding mistakes, and creative thoughts for your wedding -- and I can safely say that this is the worst one I have read so far!!! I found dozens of "mistakes" that this book condemned as just about the rudest thing you could do to your guests and/or wedding that I have seen in actions at weddings and haven't thought one bit about it -- such as limiting "+1"s for single guests or not buying a super-expensive cake or having a reasonable meal instead of an extremely expensive, outlandish one. Guests are not going to complain that you did not pay enough for the food! The idea that your wedding guests are hovering over every detail of your wedding just waiting to critique it is absurd. In addition, the author attempts to give advice on handling parents, but unfortunately comes off close to saying "if they're paying, they can do whatever they want"!! I would especially suggest that if you are a bride on a budget (like me!) that you avoid this book -- the author is obviously not thinking about those brides who can't afford to pay thousands of dollars on everything.

As others have commented, every bit of this book is full of negativity and I found nothing even remotely helpful in its pages.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a downer, March 20, 2009

This book irritates me to no end. It's rare that I find something so annoying that I run out and tell other people about it, but here I am.

Every single paragraph of this book is filled with negativity. There may be some valuable information in it, but unless you want to feel agitated by every single step in preparing your wedding, I would skip it.

The book just has a terrible attitude about an event which could actually be fun to put together.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful, November 2, 2009
This review is from: The Bride's Survival Guide: 150 Mistakes You Should Avoid for the Perfect Wedding (Paperback)
This is the most depressing wedding "advice" book I have come across. Everything, and I mean everything, is apparently THE worst mistake EVER. I felt lectured just for the audacity of being a bride. I am sorry I read this book. I would never even give this away for free to a bride-to-be.

I ordered this book at the beginning of July, and had still not received it over a month later. I ended up having to request a refund, which was given. I unfortunately had to buy the book somewhere else!!
