5.0 out of 5 stars what great comic relief for a soon to be bridesmaid!
this book is great for anyone who has been, who is or who will be a bridesmaid- it humorously excuses all of the things we go through and makes us feel that we're not alone in thinking that a dress looks ridiculous, that we've spent way too much money or that we're wearing too much make-up! mary kay mcdermott gets it "right on" in her evaluations of how we...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for the married bridesmaids
I bought 7 copies of this book to give to my friends when I ask them to be bridesmaids. When they arrived, I found that the whole beginning of it is about being the single bridesmaid left behind when a friend gets married. Since I'm the last of my friends to be married and all my bridesmaids are already hitched, this book just didn't apply. The books are being returned...

The books are being returned and I'm on the hunt for another "asking idea." So, if your bridesmaids are already married, this doesn't make a good gift. Cute, though, if you're younger and one of the first to be married.

1.0 out of 5 stars so mean!!!!, April 16, 2006

I recieved this book as a gift from the bide to whom I am the Maid of Honour. As maid of honour, i've already read many bridesmaids how to books and this is by far the worst one ive come across. It not only has no practical information, no how to guide, no words of wisdom whatsoever, what words it does give you are just mean. It tells you that your friend will never care about you as much after shes married, and whats worse is that there is an entire paragraph about how all bridesmaids resent the maid of honour, which is just putting bad ideas into peoples heads. Pass on this book if you want to be of any use to the bride on her wedding day.....

Thank you Mary Kay, for not only providing the perfect gift for my bridal party but for your warm hearted look at friendship and " one of life's most dubious distinctions ". My freinds and I laughed so hard we were in tears !!! I'm not sure which is more hilarious the wonderfully scripted text or the brilliant illustrations ...

HILARIOUS inside look at a role every female must play at least once in their life; very tongue-in-cheek; nice gift for the bridesmaids

5.0 out of 5 stars all brides and maids must read, December 31, 2000

This review is from: The Bridesmaid's Survival Guide (Paperback)
This is a delightful, informative and fun book to read. The illlustrations are unique and you want to keep turning the pages to see more. Also, there is much good information to avoid the pitfalls of choices to be made, such as avoiding selecting dresses for bridesmaids that will cause them to hate the bride forever. Much practical advice a bride and bridesmaids can use no matter how big or small the wedding will be. Buy it and laugh along with it.

How True!!! This honest and fun loving account of bridesmaiding made my fifth journey down the aisle (as a bridesmaid-not a bride!) more fun. Very validating. (the bartender at The Cowgirl Hall of Fame in NYC actually gave it to our bachelorette party!) I recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT VERY HELPFUL - ESPECIALLY FOR THE MONEY..., October 31, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Bridesmaid's Survival Guide (Paperback)
I bought a couple books on this subject and was really disappointed by this one. It wasn't hilarious and it wasn't very original. I thought it was going to offer some new, different, insightful information but it didn't. The illustrations are cute, but frankly, this was a waste of my money when there are funnier, CHEAPER, more helpful, and just plain better books out on the subject.
