Verified Purchase
I purchased the WD My Net AC Bridge along with the ASUS RT-AC66U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router to improve the wireless connection between our media boxes (PS3, XBox 360, WDTV) and our NAS drive. We like to stream all of our media as well as use on-line services such as Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu and Vudu. Our house isn't set up to run a hard wired connection and powerline ethernet doesn't work well with the wiring in our older home, so we have to use a wireless solution. We had a wireless N bridge, but the connection would often drop, due to interference from multiple wireless devices, so I purchased this along with an Asus AC router to shore up our connection. I have had this setup up and running for a month now and it has worked perfectly. I've never had much luck with using WPS especially when the router and bridge are from different manufacturers, but I literally had this thing up and running in less than 5 minutes. It isn't cheap, but it's worth the money for the performance.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
For some reason, my bedroom has always had poor network reception even though the router is two rooms away. I've been using a network range extender but this has replaced it nicely.

Pairing it with my ASUS AC66U rounter was effortless. I just pressed a button on the device, another on the router, and they were paired. I put it in my bedroom and plugged in my DISH network Hopper receiver and also my Sony DVD player. I streamed some video on both devices and they worked flawlessly.

I watched a whole movie in HD without a glitch. The AC bridge provides a nice, fast, steady connection.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
WD has been very active in the networking areas these days and released bunch of cutting edge technology routers and routers with built-in HDD & NAS recently. WD does make excellent quality hardware and I have multitude of their devices around the house and all perform well. To name a few, I have WD My Net N900 Central HD Dual Band Router 2TB Storage WiFi Wireless Router, WD My Net Wi-Fi Range Extender. WD is also known for their hard drives and Media players like Western Digital WD TV Live Hub Media Center & WD TV Live Streaming Media Player Wi-Fi

While all these above mentioned products work very well they are limited by the wireless speeds imposed by the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi standards especially for HD video streaming. That is where the 5Ghz based AC routers, bridges and repeaters come in to overcome the speed bottleneck.

The WD My Net AC Bridge is their top of the line product intended to work with their IEEE 802.11ac protocols based routers such as WD My Net AC1300 HD Dual Band Router Wireless AC WiFi Router to provide you with a complete solution for IEEE 802.11ac wireless LAN around your house.

For less tech savvy person let me share who could benefit (or not) from this types of product. Firstly you need to understand what IEEE 802.

Do you have a Wireless 'N' network? Then this bridge is not for you. It is strictly a Wireless 'AC' bridge. If you were sent here by a friend, search for "WD My Net AC1300 HD Dual Band Router Wireless AC WiFi Router Accelerate HD" instead as it is compatible with N + AC. It simply won't work unless you have a pre-existing Wireless 5GHz AC router in place. I believe there is an issue with early 2.4ghz wireless AC routers so you should verify which version you have before purchasing.

Now that that's out of the way, the idea here is that this device will 'bridge' your current wireless AC connection and provide 4 gigabit connections wherever you place it. It is literally an extension of your wireless AC network with the end result in multi-wired form.

The best use case for this is if you have a media / game room with a lot of internet enabled devices but they only have a wired connection (think your internet enabled TV, Playstation and / or Xbox) or if you have a home office with a network enabled printer, scanner or desktop computer. Both examples have multiple wired-only devices with a mix of slow wireless devices.

This is where this device shines. Using Wireless AC technology that realistically gives you 6-10 times faster than your current wireless N speeds (fact checkers: I get about 7MB/s (56mbit) on my wireless N and about 45MB/s using this bridge(360mbit) at a distance of about 20 feet through one ceiling and one wall (wood + sheetrock)) - my router is a Netgear R6250. It then takes that connection and shares it with up to 4 devices. And at the current price point, it is actually a pretty good bargain considering the price or a wifi enabled device vs a wired only.
