5.0 out of 5 stars High-energy neo-fusion in the style of the Dixie Dregs
David Ragsdale is a fantastic violin/guitar player and song writer! The CD starts out with a couple of rock-style songs, with lots of hot violin and guitar licks as well as driving bass and drums, reminiscent of the Dixie Dregs. The third song is more jazz-like, with rudimental snare drumming fading into a European sounding song that incorporates a fugue. The fourth...

3.0 out of 5 stars couple of good songs
This album over all is okay. There are a few good songs, but the rest of the songs are okay. The first song, "Bach Stabber", on this album is by far the best one. It's a neat album because every song has no lyrics in it.

The fourth song is an emotional piece that's much more laid back than the preceeding songs. The next two songs are really good high-energy songs that showcase David's talent. The song, David and Goliath, is the song that really shows David's song writing talent. The eighth song is a remake of Return to Forever's "Jungle Waterfall" which fits in well with the overall style of the CD. The last song is a good slow song that shows the talent of both David and the bass player. I really enjoy this CD and am looking forward to the next one.

This is a great instrumental CD with lots of violin and guitar virtuosity. If you like rock or jazz or a mixture of the two, you'll enjoy this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars David Ragsdale - An Overlooked Instrumental Gem From The Late 90's, February 10, 2008

I am not sure what the deal is with the title. I have the original "David And Goliath" release, but apparently the album has been re-released as "The Bridge"? Not sure.....To me this is one of the great overlooked instrumental albums of the late 90's. Most people will know David Ragsdale from his work with Kansas. The guy can play just about anything. His main instrument is electric violin, but can also play a mean guitar and is no slouch on keys. This is his one and only solo album so far, and it is a good one. From the opening rocker "Bach Stabber" to the mellow closer "Stu's Lament" this album is packed full of great rock, some fusion, and a bit of classical. Being a classically trained violinist Ragsdale incorporates many classical elements into the music here, but having played rock n roll for the better part of 15 years he also knows when to kick it into high gear. Fans of Kansas will undoubtedly get a lot of enjoyment out of this album, as much of it sounds similar to instrumental Kansas, but this is an album that should appeal to more adventurous fans of instrumental progressive rock as well. For me this album hits on all cylinders and I highly recommend it.
