5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh and emotional melodic hardcore at its best
I picked up Letter Kills - The Bridge after seeing them at the warped tour. I have to say, it's one of the best $10 I've ever spent. If you like bands such as Thursday, Dead Poetic, and Taking Back Sunday, you'll love Letter Kills. LK sounds like the above bands but they also have their own unique sound. One thing I love are the '80s guitar solos - a big complaint I have...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok.
Other than the first 2 tracks, "Lights Out" and "Dont Believe," i really couldnt get into this cd. The guitarist is amazing, one of the best ive come across in new music, but the lyrics and the songs just start sounding the same in the middle of the cd. Its ok but slightly monotone. However I still do reccomend buying it just to hear the guitarist, wow.

Overall the best CD of the year so far, and I definitely recommend picking it up if you're into the emo/hardcore genre.

4.0 out of 5 stars you have to love that laugh thing the lead singer does, April 11, 2005
This review is from: The Bridge (Audio CD)
ok, the music store must have been playing a joke on me. i listened to "THE BRIDGE" at my local music store, and every song the lead singer did his weird laugh, the put that part on the sample.i thought that was kinda annoying. but i bought the album anyway and discovered he only did it about 5 times. but now, its cool. any way, when i first heard this cd, i thought it was kinda bland. then i listened to it a few more times, and i realized this was a cool, emo band that had cool guitar solos. you dont hear that everyday do you?

5.0 out of 5 stars Letterkills: A Breath Of Fresh Air, December 11, 2004
This review is from: The Bridge (Audio CD)
On this, their debut album, "The Bridge," Letterkills do well to establish a signature sound. Even though they could be classified into the "screamo" genre, they inject a subtle, dirty, southern rock vibe into their music and make it mash together very well. All the songs are larger than life, and this record was meant to be performed live. Vocalist Matt Shelton wails almost as loud as the guitars on here, but is capable of handling some tasteful melodic moments, as displayed on the softer side with the two-part ballad "Hold My Heart." The album begins with the soaring anthem "Lights Out" and never gets boring from there. "Brand New Man" is a chugging, catchy number, while "Clock Is Down" and "Whatever It Takes" explore more conventional musicianship. This album takes me back to when I heard the first The Used record. Unlike anything out there. Both albums take a tired formula and refresh and revitalize it. Letterkills are one of the few bands that is keeping the "Warped Tour" generation of music from being too predictable and boring. I was lucky enough to see them live a few weeks ago (opening for Three Days Grace and labelmates Hoobastank) and they definitely put on a great show and pumped up a lot of people who hardly knew them. They had a great attitude and it shows in the music. Who knows what future releases will bring for them, but chances are, if you even remotely dig the style of music that they vaguely fit in with (Everything from The Used, to Thursday, to Story Of The Year), you will love this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fallen Emo Soldier!!!!, April 9, 2007
This review is from: The Bridge (Audio CD)
This is in my personal opinion, the best Emo/Punk release of 2004. Every song is amazing. It's such a shame that they broke up before we got to hear a follow-up. The songs are very deep in lyrical nature, mostly dealing with christian views..(But don't let that turn you away)...there is a lot more to Letterkills than that. This record is a must for fans of Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, The Used, Thursday...stuff like that. It mixes modern Emo creativity with an almost Ac/Dc vibe at times, Producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Hoobastank) brings out the best in these guys, helping them to create a record that will hopefully live on, even though they didn't.

BEST SONGS:
"Clock Is Down"
"Time Marches On"
"Carry You" and
"Hold My Heart (Part Two)"

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Band, November 8, 2006
This review is from: The Bridge (Audio CD)
I bought this album long time ago and its still my favorite. I always listen to it, it never gets old to me. I just found out the band split up. I never got to see them! I recomend this album to anybody who likes The Used, Chevelle, Blindside and Thursday. Definitly worth your couple bucks.

now letter kills struck me as one of those emoriffic bands, especially after looking at the back cover.it was on sale one day,had the gift card, and i had heard SO MUCH about this band so i figured to give it a try.well what i heard surprised me."lights out" is fantastic."whatever it takes" is my absolute favorite.an amazing track.this band does have that touch of emo/pop punk, but they branch out and rock, and dont try to conform to their peers.they could easily fit in on tour with any other metal band out there, not just a tour with like underoath, taking back sunday, and coheed and cambria.very diverse and something different.im really enjoying this cd,and even if you cant fathom the thought of buying a cd from an emotype band,i strongly urge you to go against yourself and buy this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys are standout., July 27, 2004
This review is from: The Bridge (Audio CD)
Your missing out on something if u don't give this album a try. I already knew 5 of the 12 songs when I bought the album from listening to them repetitively and obsessively on their website. This albums a breth of fresh air. They put a good balance of emotion(emocoreISH, not so deep but different... and more original) and thought into their music while still being creative, and catchy. Basicly the energy to their music is awesome. All the songs on the album have a really good melody to them. The singer has an awesome voice, mainly because his yell's cool, and the guitar riffs are also awesome. The only truely soft songs on the album are Hold my heart pt.1 and 2, and they aren't whiney either, just more mellow. They all kick ass. You'll understand everything I'm ranting about more when you buy the album. If you want a sample go check out 3 of the songs from the album on their website(www.letterkills.com). Island rock rules.

4.0 out of 5 stars Letter Kills, January 5, 2005
This review is from: The Bridge (Audio CD)
This is pretty much a direct response to another review for this album. Frankly, this band is more innovative and better to listen to than Story of the Year or Finch, if you insist on involving the two in the same comparison. Yes, Letter Kills did come after these bands, but they succeed in holding my interest for a longer time than either of these other bands. From the charisma of the vocals to the talent of the musicians, you can't really go wrong buying this album.

Great CD overall... good transitions and better than what I had expected from it. My top three song recommendations from the album are Lights Out, Radio Up, and Hold My Heart (Part I).
