This review is from: 25 Bridge Myths Exposed (Paperback)
This is a nice series of books. This one is aimed toward play, and works at debunking a lot of the rules we learned as beginners:
second hand low eight ever nine never never give a ruff and sluff win as cheaply as possible etc. The book doesn't suggest that these rules are bad, but rather that they are not solid gold. Sometimes second hand might do better playing high. Sometimes you want to finesse for the queen even though you have nine of the suit. The book offers examples where the "myths" work and where they don't and considers what one might think about in analyzing and planning one's play. For this reason, the book can be a useful addition to one's bridge library. |
