One of the best "pop" albums with an edge!,

I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought it, with the exception of the first single "Happy Baby"...which I really liked. But I find the cd's that I buy on a whim, are always the one's that I can't put down. Basically I play this cd constantly, and this is the best "super-group" of the past year (honorable mentions to ex-gunners Slash, Matt and Duff in Velvet Revolver). The ladies sing really great edgy pop songs in a time where if you hear pop, it has to be either Celene Dion or Britney crap (no thanks). Great tune to start a cd, "On And On" just plain rocks. Then my favorite tune on the cd continues the experience, "Guenevere" highlights each vocalist's very destinctive voices in again, just a really great pop song. "Happy Baby" is probably still my second favorite song on the record, it's just one of those that gets you singing (I hope no one ever hears me sing the "...last night's clothes, no make-up" line!!!!). "Beauty" the second single, is a strong ballad, as is "How The West Was Won" later on. "Freedom" is a rocker, and "Daydream Car " provokes thoughts of speeding down a highway mid-summer with no cares in the world! "Godspeed" is the only track on the album that I have been known to skip, it just slows down the momentum when everything else is "full speed ahead"! To end, "No Mermaid" brings a surprise guest performance from the Cape Breton fiddler Natalie McMaster, and is a fitting end to the experience! The bonus cd is just that, a bonus. If you become as big a fan of this cd as I have...you will go and get the original cd's by each member (Kim Stockwood, Tara MacLean and Damhnait Doyle), I'm sure of it!!! Really!!! I'm just itchin' to see 'em live now, hopefully I'll have a better chance in Calgary!

More than I expected,

Shaye consists of Tara MacLean, Damhnait Doyle and Kim Stockwood, all fairly successful singer/song-writers on their own in Canada. Collectively they've created an impressive CD with "The Bridge", a solid collection of rock songs and songs with a folk influence. Tara and Damhnait are fine singers, but I don't think Kim Stockwood has an especially strong voice. She has little range and is constantly overshadowed by Tara MacLean, the best singer out of the three. Tara has perfect pitch, a soothing voice and she is clearly the star of this CD. Fans of the three singers will certainly enjoy this, but so should fans of Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant and other similar singers.Favourite songs: "When You're Sinking", "On and On" and "No Mermaid".

A great debut album,
This review is from: Bridge (Audio CD)
I bought this CD after reading a glowing review of it in one of the local papers. I normally don't buy an album based on newspaper reviews, but I'm glad I did this time. I like every song on the disc and Tara MacLean sounds great even though I wish she had more solos since she's the best singer out of the three. Damhnait Doyle is also a great singer with a unique and strong voice. As for Kim Stockwood, I don't think she's incredibly talented. Her voice lacks range and she's constantly overshadowed by Tara and Damhnait. All in all, a good album!
