4.0 out of 5 stars Some Interesting Stuff
There are some great, old songs on this compilation getting covered by some very hip bands. As with any covers compilation, not all the songs work, but some are gems. My personal favorite, and the one I think best exemplifies what a cover song should be, is "She Sells Sanctuary" by The Dandy Warhols. Originally recorded by The Cult, this track was a scorching rocker...

1.0 out of 5 stars only one or two good songs, not worth it
Ok, so I'll admit that I bought this cd after hearing only one song (the decemberists cover of fleetwood mac, track 1). I thought that was pretty good and figured, how bad can it be? Now I wish I had only bought that song, it would have saved me the money and there are a number of songs on this cd that were so bad that I may actually delete them from my computer. Of...

My personal favorite, and the one I think best exemplifies what a cover song should be, is "She Sells Sanctuary" by The Dandy Warhols. Originally recorded by The Cult, this track was a scorching rocker that really can't be improved upon. So, don't improve it. Just deliver a different interpretation. And that's exactly what the Warhols do, reducing the soaring guitars and drive of the original into a moody, half-paced, synth-infused dream pop tune. Very cool.

Of special note is the remake of "sister christian" - I have heard bad karaoke of this song that sounded better. Seriously, if you can't hit the notes pick a different song! My recommendation is to save your money, while a few of the songs on this cd are good, the originals in every case are better.
