Just when you think music gets damp here comes the Gap man himself to heat it up.I honestly can say this is a collectors item a rare gem in the music industry. The song Without You has to be the most beautiful song ever made.Charlie Wilson's voice is so smooth and sweet it can melt your soul whether your a man or woman.Anyone who wants a break from the fake soul singers and want a taste of sweetness buy this you wont be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gap has been bridged, February 27, 2003

I got this cd shortly after it came out and while checking to see if he had anything new coming out soon...I decided to write this review to give major props and respect to this man's work. I grew up and was graced with hearing songs by The Gap Band and fell in love with Charlie's voice. I heard it again throughout my years in other compilations including "Pretty Lady" with Mint Condition (Life's Aquarium). I heard "Big Pimpin'" and sat in aw as I heard this gorgeous voice tear every line up- and the presence of the all-star Snoop Dogg only made the song more of a hit to me. I quickly went out and got "Bridging the Gap" and was immediately impressed from the first track.
"Come Back My Way" will always be one of my favorite songs...it's simply gorgeous and I think just about anyone can feel and relate to the lyrics and honesty of the track.
For anyone who is skeptical about this cd-maybe thinking it will be a bad Gap Band comeback...don't think twice about it- this is truly soul at it's finest.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXTREMELY UNDER RATED![.], November 29, 2002
This review is from: Bridging the Gap (Audio CD)
This was an excellent cd! I enjoyed every single track. This artist has been deprived & very underated to the public eye.
I wish him much success in the future in whatever he aspires.
He is truly a milestone![.]

One love,
DEE

4.0 out of 5 stars It was slept on!, August 8, 2002

I truly think bridging the gap was one of the most slept on CD's of all time. "Big Pimpin" promted me to by the album, but it got little airplay. Charlie Wilson is one smooth mutha (shut your mouth)! His smooth vocals stand the test of time. This is one album that should be in everyone's collection. Everyone young and old will be able to relate. You did a great job trying to Bridge the Gap, Charlie, it's just too bad more of us didn't cross over that bridge!

5.0 out of 5 stars Uncle Charlie, February 5, 2003

Man look, this man clearly has one of the most distinctive voices in the industry coupled with the most lackluster record label. It pains me to see that he did not get the accolades as that a non-singer like Ashanti got. Clive Davis, I hope you read this and sign Charlie Wilson to J-Records. I guarantee you he will go at least double platinum when you give him some name recognition and up to par producers such as Rodney Jerkins.

This is much more appropriate material for the Classic Gap Band Charlie Wilson I remember. I did not care for the two R.Kelley produced that followed this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Somebody who knows!, November 22, 2005
This review is from: Bridging the Gap (Audio CD)
Im a cat who attended Langston University when Charlie was there, and even then it was clear that he was going to be a musical talent that wasnt going anywhere soon! The entire cd is "tight", and well worth your investment. As we said then..."right-on, Charlie, right-on".

I can't believe no one has taken the time to review this CD yet! I've had this CD since it was released and it's still in my changer. It's a good investment. Charlie Wilson has a strong, sexy voice that I won't ever tire of hearing. My favorite tracks: Would you mind, Absolutely, Come Back my Way, and the ever so beautiful...Without You.
