Biography

Hip-hop star Nas is best known for his landmark 1994 LP Illmatic, recorded when he was just 19 years old. His debut release, it is often considered to be among the best hip-hop albums ever made, mostly thanks to his sharp lyricism and astute treatment of difficult subjects. Although it didn't do well in the charts upon release, its continued appraisal as a landmark record meant it eventually… Read more in Amazon's Nas Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, October 5, 2004
This review is from: Bridging The Gap (Audio CD)
This is a perfect example of how rap music should be done. "Bridging the Gap", the 2nd single off Nas' upcoming album, "Street's Disciple", is a mix of blues and rap, and it works to perfection. The harmonica-based beat is reminiscent of the Outkast's "Rosa Parks", and Nas' flow & lyrics are on-point, as usual. Nas even has his own father on the hook. "Bridging the Gap" even has a little bit of radio appeal, and will definately be making "Street's Disciple" a hot commodity when it finally does come out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bridging the Gap, February 16, 2005
This review is from: Bridging The Gap (Audio CD)
this is great with nas and his dad doing this cause it sounds good and hasn't really done before by anyone. the chorus is:

I was born In Mississipi I was young and runnin wild
when I moved to New York City
And I had my first child
I called the boy Nasir
All the boys called him Nas
When he was young I told him
He'll be the greatest man alive

Yeah this is a dope track and Nas fans'll like it. All of Nas music is good and he is one of my top 10 rappers
