Bridging Heaven and Earth,
By KAP (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bridging Heaven & Earth (Paperback)
If you are looking for a book that is more than just information for the mind but food for the soul this is the book for you. Written with stark simplicity, its style will effortlessly guide you to deeper levels of your own being. I found myself dwelling in delight (or should that be "the Light") as I read each of the many themes the author covers. A constant "yes" was my inner response, resonating with agreement from deep within. What I like most about this book is how convincing the author is in communicating the possibility of enlightenment now, not after meditating for 30 years, adopting exotic philosophies, or denying one's humanity. The reason for this, I believe, is that the reader begins to actually experience the necessary inner awareness that leads to enlightenment simply through the mindful reading of what he says. At the core of our being we are simplicity in the extreme, so when reading this book we begin to resonate with it - like one tuning fork vibrating next to another and making it vibrate too. This is the last of three books the author has written, and the first which I have read. It is one of the few books that I have begun to reread right after finishing it. I am sure that it will be reread many times because of the experience it gives of my own inner self. I can't wait to read the others.

Choosing to be awake Dec. 28, 2000,

Bridging Heaven and Earth completes the trilogy that began with Words of Silence and continued with Embracing the Present. For anyone not familiar with the work of Leonard Jacobson from having participated in one of his workshops, I feel that it is important to read each of these books in series. Each builds upon the previous one, going deeper into the reality that we are. Once one is familiar with his work from a workshop, or from having read the books through at least once, then picking up any book and opening it to any page is all that is needed for a 'refresher.' Leonard's words touch the soul and bring light and understanding to the idea that our sole purpose in being here is to be present with all of God's creation that is already present. His words help the egoic mind become comfortable with surrendering control, leaving judgment, releasing attachment and not resisting 'the negative'.In this book, Leonard explains in words that ring true, some of the sayings of Jesus as reported in the Bible. My heart sang with joy to see in print what I have always known inside. I highly recommend this book as a sequel to his first two.

Quite a trip..,

I love this book. It is a mystical journey through existence. The author has had several 'Damascus road' type spiritual awakenings and shares a message very similar to Eckhart Tolle, with a strong emphasis on living in the present moment. This book, however, is also Leonards' most esoteric. It covers things like the multi-dimensional nature of man, the spirit and soul realms, reincarnation and the true purpose of Jesus Christ. I found these sections to be the most 'out there' (in a good way!) as Leonards' take on these subjects is quite esoteric and original, quite unlike anything else I've read, really. Probably not the best place to start with Leonard- 'Words from Silence' or his more recent 'Journey into Now' are probably better introductions to his work, but if you like his style and want to dig deeper into the mystery, this one is a classic in its' own right.

Not a lot different or inspiring here...,
By TheSongsofDistantEarth "O" (Oceana) - See all my reviews

Not having read the author's other 2 books, I came across only this one and purchased it with high expectation (based upon the general reviews for the other books). Well, I;m disappointed. This is in a semi-poetic form, and it reads just like many other similar books I have come across, usually from some unknown author in the spiritual section in a used bookstore. Nothing really inspiring here. The author has a section on some 'sacred geometry' that was revealed to him during his 'fifth awakening in New York City' in 1990; I found it simplistic and rather dull. Actually, that's how I would describe this whole book. However this particular book was written, I don't doubt the author's sincerity and wish to communicate his spiritual experience. I haven't given up on him entirely, though, I will still look for his first two books and see if they have anything to offer and give them a chance if they do. I just can't recommend this particular book.
