I am a Dostoevsky fan and I've read all of his major works. This was my first reading into the life of the author himself. It's a decent read that helped me put a perspective on his development as a writer.

This book doesn't pretend to be a comprehensive treatment of Dostoevsky's life. It does a good job of being a short read that gives a non-academic decent insights into Dostoevsky's life. The tone is readable, but sometimes felt flippant or a little too casual.
