With the newer lawnmower engines that come on a new push lawnmower, you are stuck with a single high speed engine RPM that can not be throttled down, plus they have auto-choke start systems that are prone to failure and frequent shop repair. Enter the B&S 190cc 675 series replacement engine (126L02-1015-F1).
This engine has full throttle control and a bulb primer system that has been pretty much a fail-safe and reliable start system over the past many years. I do have one bad review of the full adjustable throttle though...the engine runs very rough on the extreme idle throttle adjustment, but if you only adjust the throttle slide 3/4 of the way to idle..it will run smoothly....but this is a small price to pay over one high speed only of the push lawnmowers being sold today.
The engine also has lots of power and will cut most lawns on "idle", saving valuable gasoline and the noise of the high one speed engines.
Also, you may want to pay particular attention to the 7/8 inch shaft diameter on this engine as the newer lawnmower engines have a 1 inch diameter shaft. The older lawnmowers use engines with the 7/8 inch diameter shaft and the blade-to-shaft coupler will work fine, but the coupler off the newer engines will be to large.
This engine adapted flawlessly to the mower body.
The engine was shipped quickly.

I purchased this engine to replace a 20 year old D R Trimmer engine. The engine is a perfect fit and the exchange was accomplished in about an hour. While I was waiting for the engine to arive, I cleaned and repainted the D R Trimmer housing and now I have a "like new" D R Trimmer. The instructions to lock out the engine brake was well written and easy to follow. The engine started promptly after priming. Excellent replacement engine. See Photos.

I bought this as a direct replacement for an older Sears mower that finally hit a rock big enough to bend the crankshaft on the 6.5 B&S engine. The B&S model number scheme is not too clear about which detail features (which may or may not be important to your fitment) are available on a basic model. So I ended up choosing the "recommended" model and ordering it through Amazon, which had the (slightly) lowest price. As a commodity, there are numerous suppliers at essentially the Amazon price. Amazon's service is top-notch, though, as the unit arrived the next day under "standard" shipping.

Installation, as noted by others, is very straight-forward:
a) brake cable attachment to side (needle nose pliers to squeeze plastic fitting)
b) blade/drive belt pulley on bottom (9/16" wrench and small hex key) Note the drive belt pulley uses a woodruff key that needs to be transferred from the original motor
c) three 3/8" bolts using 9/16" socket to mower chassis

I did tap the three mounting holes on the engine per another review and noted the threads were shallow. (about half-height rather than the normal 3/4) Inspecting the three original mounting bolts, I saw that the are formed slightly "triangular". I suspect, but have not found documentation, that they are intended to be self-tapping into the soft aluminum engine case. Having already tapped the holes, I assembled them with "blue" locktite gel (a favorite for general assembly work) and torqued to a normal snugness without problem.

Note that a round "spark arrest" cover is included for the muffler. It took a bit of digging in the instructions to figure out what it is. It is not used on my ordinary mower.

The engine is exactly what you expect & with super saver shipping this is the best deal you're going to find. Includes a brake lock to keep the brake off if not used for mowing, & has a manual throttle adjustment lever that can accept a cable.

Replaced the 9 year old Briggs engine on the Ariens self-propelled mower.
Mounting holes lined up exactly. The bolt holes in the old engine were threaded, the new engine's holes are not threaded.
Not being too mechanically minded it took me a while to find the right tap to thread the new mounting holes.
I know, I know, simple bolts would have sufficed but I like things to be as original as possible.
Mounted perfectly, everything connected great.
Borrowed a gear puller to remove the blade adapter.
Also moved the muffler guard from the old engine to the new one.
Really enjoy the one pull start.
I would recommend this engine.

I purchased this motor to replace the one on my high-wheeled trimmer. As my trimmer is about 7 years old, this motor eclipsed the previous motor and my trimmer works better now, especially with the extra half-horsepower! I especially like that the the pull cord is long enough to fit as it did when it came from the factory. Two day shipping from Amazon, means two-day shipping.

Thanks!

This is the second time I bought this engine for my 40+year old lawn mower (love it too much to get a new one). The first time was 15 years ago, and after 15 years of high use, the first engine was having problems, so instead of trying to fix the carborator and the pull string, I bought a new engine. I was surprised that after 15 years, B&S still made the EXACT same engine; looks exactly the same and everything. The only difference was instead of saying HP now, it says torque (wonder what's up with that?). The bolt pattern was even still the same, so not only did I get to reuse the old holes, I got to reuse the bolts.

You have to have your own pulley, key stock, and end bolt for the end of the crankshaft. I reused my end bolt, but couldn't get my old pulley off; bought new pulley and keystock from fastenal's website. Keystock is the 3/16" undersized (not oversized). Not sure what the end bolt's threads are.
