Product Description

Briggs & Stratton manufactures small engines and outdoor power equipment. For 100 years, we've been building the engines that power the equipment people use to get the job done. That's the reason consumers look for the Briggs & Stratton brand when they shop for power equipment. Pressure washers can be used for anything from cleaning your car, to cleaning your patio, to removing dirt and paint from your house in preparation for re-painting. Not only do pressure washers make cleaning quicker and easier, they save water since they only take about 1/5 the water a garden hose would use to do the same job.

As usual the delivery was typical Amazon perfect. Un boxed the unit, read ALL of the directions and added oil and gas. Unit fired off with the second pull after hooking up water etc. Before using I purchased a "turbo nozzle" at the local big box store as I knew I had some heavy work ahead removing mold and green stuff off some patio pavers and walls. The high pressure hose is a bit stiff and this unit would benefit greatly from an after market hose. The supplied nozzles are just plain cheap, no other way to say it... they are not clean spraying and by the end of using it to wash the house and patio areas once will be replaced. With the turbo nozzle this unit will make short work of some really tough stuff, but it shouldn't be used on wood etc without great care.

I mentioned the engine on this unit started second pull, well it typically does start first or second pull unless one of the following happens. One, you run out of gas while operating, and two when the unit mysteriously decides to just shut off when in use. ( this happened twice) I'm not sure if it's the oil sensor ( it has the proper amount of oil in it) or perhaps it's running hot. ( 90 degree days while using) What ever the reason if either of the two I've mentioned happen, the unit will not start, no amount of swearing, dancing, fiddling, cajoling, or various threats to it's well being will work until the next day. ( three hours isn't long enough and I gave up in frustration till the next day)

So, take care not to run out of gas, and hope you don't have a mystery shutdown and this unit will get the job done at reasonable cost. A few cheap bits and pieces but overall acceptable for the money.

This is a unit that does a great job. You have to beware of the fitting 201497GS where you attached the high pressure hose. It is made of cast aluminum. Its threads
are soft and easy to damage. Mine jammed after I carefully attached the hose for the seventh project. When I finally wrenched it apart, the threads were stripped on the fitting and the high pressure hose was damaged and unusable. Too bad they included this cheap fitting. It should have been made of brass. Amazon sells this fitting, so it must be a common problem with this machine. If I had it to do over, I would not have purchased this unit, I would have opted for a more expensive-better build model.

I purchased this item with high expectations. It was used once and worked fine. The second time I tried to use it 2 months later it would not start. I took it to a Briggs and Stratton authorized repair dealer, at great inconvenience, and after 4 weeks was told the problem was not covered by the warranty. Apparently, I used "bad gas" (purchased at a local Exxon station) which caused a carburetor problem and therefore it was my problem. If I wanted my 3 month old power washer to work, I had to pay for the repair that was needed, which I did. My concern is where do I get "good gas" so this does not happen every time I use the power washer. Both Amazon and Briggs and Stratton said it was my problem, not theirs. After spending $300 plus and using the equipment once, I think I was screwed by both companies.

If you are thinking of purchasing this power washer, I would think twice.

You can tell this is a budget pressure washer, but it does the job. Everything worked flawlessly. It feels a little plasticy, and the 2700 PSI pressure will take some time to get off tough stains, but for the price, you can't beat this model. Started up easy and ran great for the few hours I used it.

I purchased one of these almost 2 years ago from somewhere else. The reason I am writing this review is because I am looking for a new one and saw this. It was used commercially for normal pressure washing tasks. Oil was checked and it wasn't run any harder than if you were washing the side of a house. After about 30 hours of use the engine failed. Luckily I got a warranty plan with it. Got it back and it worked for maybe another 20 hours...maybe. Seems like the pump is now shot. Sending it back again but will use it as a backup this time around. If you are just using a little here and there its probably ok. The quality of cleaning was fine. Pretty slow like other pw's that pump out 2.3GPM. If you are looking for something you are going to use a lot I would recommend something at least $500 or better. This just didn't cut it.

The pump failed after the second use. Yes the pump, a $144.85 part. This poor excuse for a power washer is extremely difficult to start. If you run out of gas while using it (and you will because it doesn't run very long on a tank of gas), it simply will not restart. Period! So I go to use it for the third time, finally, with extremely difficultly, get it to start and the pump has failed. Yep, the pump died before the third use. I have never in my entire life been so unhappy with a power washer. Shame on Briggs & Stratton for having a motor so difficult to start! Check out the reviews on other sites, they are all about how horrible it is to start. How it runs out of gas after very little use and then you are done for the day because it simply will not restart AND how the pump fails early on. If Troy-Bilt is trying to destroy their reputation, they are doing a great job with this power washer!
