My Snapper MRP2216014B (6hp, self propelled) mower was declared dead and given to me by neighbors after having been submerged in salt flood water for eight hours. Following 5 oil flushes and total breakdown and reassembly, the carb was still a problem. I almost gave up and actually loaded the mower for a run to the dump but found this 498170 carb on Amazon and took a chance. It was shipped by ASC Auto Parts and arrived quickly, no problems. I Installed the carb on the Briggs 12H802 motor and it ran the motor immediately. I have since adjusted the Snapper drive and the mower cuts perfectly and with power. I could kick myself for almost trashing it. Most all Briggs motors are worth repairing.

This carb worked on my John Deere JS63 walk behind mower. After searching all the local small engine repair places (all of which were useless), I found this one online. Arrived quickly and was the exact replacement carb. Motor started first pull after a few pushes of the primer.

This is the second time I have bought a carburetor for my Murray lawnmower. It has a Briggs & Stratton engine and about every 3 years it conks out and refuses to start or stay started. I know, most likely, it is because I have left gas in it over the winter. Ok, my bad. So this is the easy fix. Five bolts later it has a new carb. Put gas in it.. prime it and bang... off she goes!! Runs perfectly.
It's much easier and cheaper than taking it down to have someone give me a $75 "tune-up".
Service by Amazon and the supplier were fine... now I'm good for another couple of years.

Matched the carburetor on my B&S 6.5 hp engine exactly. It is on a Craftsman 21" push mower. Primed three time and started on first pull.

This is an OEM replacement for the Briggs and Stratton 498170 Carburetor. It is a bit different than the original carburetor that came with my 7+ year old mower. The most obvious difference between the two is the weight. This replacement is dramatically lighter which I can attribute to the carb being made of what appears to be aluminum versus the previous carb which contained considerably more steel (the original was ferrous, but may be a zinc alloy). Regardless of the weight, the fit was perfect and the included o-ring and gasket meant installation took all of two minutes. With a new carb and fresh air filter, the mower started up on the first pull and ran like it did when I first bought it which is a far cry from the slog that it had become.

I originally purchased the Briggs and Stratton overhaul kit which would have been fine for my purpose except I dropped the carb onto concrete before getting it back onto the mower shattering the only exterior plastic piece. After my experience with receiving the full carburetor I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is wary of tinkering with small mechanical components. While overhauling the carburetor on a lawnmower is probably trivial to most, the ability to swap out parts by taking out five screws and swapping assemblies almost seems worth it. It saves time and cost only a bit more than the overhaul kit, a can of carb cleaner, and a wire brush that you would need anyway.

Bought it, direct bolt on replacement for my mower. Bolted it on, put the gas line on, installed the air cleaner and it started up without me even having to prime it. Thanks for resurrecting my broken mower!

I doubt it's the seller's fault but my carb came with two "fatal" defects. The carb bowl was bent and would not seal properly with the rest of the carb. Luckily, I had the old bowl and I just cleaned it out. Second, the gasket at the bottom of the bowl was torn beyond use. Again, old carb to the rescue. I assume these are made and/or assembled in China (I couldn't find a country identification on the product) so there's only so much that can be done. I was lucky enough to have these "spare" parts. If I had the time I would have returned it and probably gotten the parts but that was more trouble than it's worth. The new carb works well (with old my bowl and gasket) and it got the mower running. If you are mechanically inclined you can make it work, but a new carb ought to work 100% out of the box. This one did not and leaked gasoline so badly at the top of the bowl and out the bottom that it was only by the grace of having the old spare parts that it was workable.
