Excellent replacement for an old 495426 on my chipper. A couple of issues. It wasn't an exact replacement. So, I had to swap the linkage. No big deal except the instructions had a confusing warning. It warns "not to remove the bell crank" or it will void the warranty and cause carburetor damage. It didn't come with the bell crank linkage. Check the picture. There is no linkage. So, I put on the bell crank from my old one and it works just fine. Another issue was that one of the holes for a linkage screw is unthreaded. The linkage screw appears to be self-tapping but wouldn't go. I needed to use a regular tap to put threads it--easy to do and minor but kind of an irritation. I also elected to use the sprung needle valve from my old carb instead of the loose needle that came with it. Finally, I swapped out the plastic link to the choke plate because this one is indented to provide set speeds and my old levers wouldn't move into the indents smoothly. That was all of 3 seconds to slip out the plate and put in the old link.

Overall it works perfectly and the engine starts up without a problem and runs superbly.

Carborator arrived nicely packed and secure. Although very similar to the old carb, it had some minor differences (some plastic instead of metal parts, etc.) But one thing that was majorly different was that there was a place where a screw went that was not threaded. I don't know if this was a manufacturing flaw or a redesign, but the tiller I had bought this for had a throttle control guide that attatched here. I ended up having to get a tap set to cut the threads. Wasn't real happy about that.

This carburetor was packaged in a Briggs and Stratton box with several missing parts. I initially was going to return it, but needed to get my tiller up and running so that I could plant my garden. I removed the bellcrank screw, gas screen, throttle spring, and a few other components from my old carburetor and installed it on the new one. In the process, I had to re-tap a couple of the screw holes due to the carburetor's soft metal. Metal was not as good as the old carburetor. In the instructions, it had a Notice stating not to remove the bellcrank screw when it did not come with one. After modifying the carburetor, it worked great.

Brought back my power washer to life. It's impossible to repair some of the Briggs carburetors after you have let today's bad gasoline sit in the tank too long. And with the silly smog rules you can't even take it apart to clean out the internal passages clogged with white death. I finally gave up and bought this new carb, and engine is alive once more. Be sure to use some Sta-Bil in your gas and remove all gas from tank if you aren't going to use equipment for a long time. Otherwise you will be doing this again.

This replacement carburetor appeared to be an official Briggs and Stratton OEM item.
It looked like swapping out the old carb would be easy.
Not so, because one of the holes for mounting linkage hardware removed from the old carb was not threaded.
In addition a tab on the pivot arm for the governor control rod linkage was broken off, and the take-up tube for gas was bent a little.
But, as the instructions said, "irreparable damage will result" if the bolt holding the broken pivot arm for the governor linkage were removed.
So the unit was useless as received.
I attempted a repair.
The un-threaded hole could be tapped.
The bent tube was no big deal.
The pivot arm bolt broke off, leaving it's hole plugged with the threaded part of the bolt.
I tried to contact both the seller and Amazon to negotiate a partial refund, but received no reply from either message.
I finally did return the part and have received a full refund from Amazon.
I didn't lose money, but I lost time and I'm not happy with the lack of communication.

Part came in a reasonable amount of time and I needed it quickly. The quality of the carburetor was as described. The tiller fired right up.

Carburetor worked perfectly. Perfect fit, runs just like it did when the tiller was brand new.
Would order again if needed!

Just installed the new carb on my 5HP MTD blower today. Put gas in it, pulled the rope a couple of times and it runs great. I would have rated it 5 stars but just like some of the other reviewers commented, some of the holes in the carb didn't have threads cut in them. One of them was easy enough because it appeared to be a self tapping screw, at least it cut the threads. The screw for the other hole would not cut the threads so I had to tap it with a 6-32 tap. Not a big deal for me because I have what was needed to do the task. There may be some DIYers out there who might not. Need to let you know up front what tools are needed.
