4.0 out of 5 stars Good fo medium project
I was to review the sibling model 020239 sold in Walmart. Model 20228 was sold in Sears. I believe Briggs & Stratton made slight different products for distributors. Here is the Speed Clean sold in Walmart which had a 4 HP engine.

3.0 out of 5 stars could be better
The washer does the job. I gave only three stars because of some inconvenient annoying issues. 1. It is difficult to start when cold. You have to prime it just right. Too little or too much prime results in a sore arm pulling the start cord. 2. The nozzle hose does not fold up well. It's near impossible to get it neatly stowed away on the brackets provided. 3. The suction...

I was to review the sibling model 020239 sold in Walmart. Model 20228 was sold in Sears. I believe Briggs & Stratton made slight different products for distributors. Here is the Speed Clean sold in Walmart which had a 4 HP engine.

Speed Clean 2200 PSI Pressure Washer:

1.9 GPM (gallons per minute)
4 HP Briggs & Stratton Quantum Engine
Easy, reliable start
Easy Start pump technology
Adjustable spray nozzle
Stainless steel spray wand
25' high-pressure hose
Detergent injection system
Model 020239

It's very easy to assemble the wheels and handler and easy to use after you read the manual. I had used a more powerful machine before so I feel the difference of the PSI and GPM. The 1.9 GPM is slightly lower. 2500 PSI and 2.5 GPM sound ideal for home use. But if you mainly work on medium projects like to wash tool, cars, furnitures, drive ways, decks, and patios it more than meets your needs for routine cleanings. It's has a small size so you won't need much space to store it. Full tank fuel can run about 40 minutes. I had to add motor oil after running it for 5 hours and that's in line of their recommendation. It has no muffler so you may need earplugs to reduce the noise you have to hear. It worked good for me. One thing I want to mention that after I finished the job the front foot of the machine melted down for some reason and the rubber contained the surface and had to clean that out. Be careful on that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked great until the engine burned up, March 4, 2007

This review is from: Briggs & Stratton 2,200 PSI Gas-Powered Pressure Washer 20228 (Lawn & Patio)
I really like this model pressure washer. It comes with 3 different nozzles and as well as a turbo nozzle. I bought this mainly to clean up years of sun damage to my deck. The orange nozzle worked great, except you had to get really close for desired effect and this dramatically slows down cleaning time. I followed their maintenance guidelines as far as engine oil goes. It says after you have run 5 hours, replace the oil. Well thats all well and good except that the engine on mine burned up (with oil at full mark) after 3 hours of use. I contacted amazon to get a replacement and am very satisfied to see they will be shipping me a new one in 3-5 business days. For anyone buying this one, I highly advise checking the oil every hour or so of use.

Also, compared to other pressure washers I have used in the past, this model is a thirsty beast... it drinks gas like its water.

I would suggest this model to friends, especially considering amazon was very helpful in getting me a new one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine machine, June 9, 2007
This review is from: Briggs & Stratton 2,200 PSI Gas-Powered Pressure Washer 20228 (Lawn & Patio)
Shipping for the pressure washer was incredibly fast. I placed the order and two days later it was sitting on my door step. The power washer assembled quickly and painlessly. My wife is so happy with it that she has not let me use it yet. It has been run for about 4 to 5 hours so far and has handled all tasks (cleaning sidewalk, garage door, vinyl siding, brick siding and cars) very well. Inclusion of the turbo tip is a real plus. The large wheels make it much easier to move about are very much appreciated.

I had read many reviews already posted in Amazon.com for this item prior to my purchase. The vast majority were positive and after using it, the positive critiques have been validated for me.

Easy unpack and startup. Within minutes i was able to start pressure washing. I did make a trip to local hardware store buy cleanup solution to use in driveway cleanup.

only wished it came with a litter bit longer hose. Also, wished the cleanup tube have a lock so that it does not come out the solution bucket.

3. The suction tube for adding a cleaner doesn't syphon as it should. I usually just pre sray the area with the additive and power nozzle it off with the dirt. It's a gas hog and be sure to check the oil level often as it uses it too. But when you get it going, the presure is plenty and the different nozzle heads work as directed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff, August 28, 2007

I read a lot of the reviews on this power washer. I agree, it was easy to assemble and we had it up and running in no time. It did a tremendous job on my deck which was dark and turning slimy. This power washer makes it look brand new...there are different nozzle sizes so you can experiment to find the right one for you.

We were going to go to a professional to power wash the deck. But with this washer, I'm glad I didn't...well worth every penny. I now have a whole line-up of projects to use it on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted, February 18, 2007

I bought this unit to deal with moss and mildew that builds up on everything outside here in Oregon. The 2200 psi with red tip blasted the moss off my (brick) front steps and left them shining. It's as good as the rental on which I spent $50/day a couple of years ago. I've got a list as long as my arm of projects for this baby. A great guy toy!!

I received the product a month ago. A wheel had broken during shipment. Amazon would not allow it to be returned, but is working on getting a replacement wheel. Product may be OK (other than poor packaging and shipping damage), but I have not been able to use it yet. I have been waiting for the wheel for 3 weeks now.
