I bought two put one on Honda generator the other on wood splitter. On the generator it alows me to keep track of how long I can run on tank of gas and how much time I put on generator while camping so I know when to change oil. It was really suprising the hours put on during my 8 day trip, 40 hours need to change oil at 50 per manual. easy to install one wire to ground other wire wrap around spark plug wire

I have a few of these and they are well constructed and is easy to install. The problem I eventually had was the battery died. Having a LCD display, when the battery dies the readout goes blank and you do not know how many hours have lapsed since it was installed so you should check the reading periodically so that you at least have a rough idea of usage when the battery dies. It really bugged me to have to buy a new one just because the battery died so I "dremeled" it open and found that the 3v 2430 watch battery is replaceable. The battery is about $4.29 in most chain drugstores. Opening it up also allowed me to see how well
constructed it is.

I have one of these on the motor of my Craftsman 42" Deck Lawn Tractor and it works fine. All you have to do is wrap one wire around the spark plug wire and another gets attached to pretty much any uncoated screw/bolt on the equipment to ground it and it works. It does stay on all the time so the battery will have to be replaced at some point, but it's only a little number display so it can't use that much power. I'd definitely recommend it for any equipment that requires engine maintenance but doesn't come with an hourmeter or an odometer.

The B&S Maintenance Minder works just as described. Installation is simple and anyone who can read the instructions can do it in 10 minutes or less. These types of units used to be available at every big box Home improvement store but lately have become harder to find locally. The only reason that I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because like the earlier versions the battery is sealed inside and non replaceable. After a year or so the display will no longer work and the unit will have to be replaced, thus losing the total time recorded on the item you want to moinitor. When the time comes I am hoping to take this one apart and see if I can't replace the battery and customize the case so that it will be easily replaceable in the future.

I have two of them. Both installed on dirt bikes ridden at the mx track. They get a good shake down.

I have one of these on a lawnmower and one on a brushcutter. On the lawnmower I attached the ground screw to one of the bolts that holds the engine to the deck. On the brush cutter I attached it underneath one of the screws that holds the engine cover to the frame. On the brush cutter I cut off the eyelet that came on it so it would fit under the screw better. The meter sticks well to the equipment with the integral two-sided tape and it records hours.

Not much to say except this works flawlessly and is a snap to install. One wire on the sparkplug wire and the other to a ground.I used small tie wraps on the sparkplug wire and to secure the ground wire,to eliminate possiblity of snags, and Two sided tape to secure the unit to my portable generator. This is my third one of these, One my garden tractor, trimming lawn mower and now generator. Can't beat the price and reliability. Highly recommend if you care about proper maintenance of your equipment.

Very pleased with this product. It has been accurate without fail. I've owned it for almost a year now and the display works just as good as the day it arrived!

This product works as advertised. Easy to install. A little pricey, but I'll buy another when I need it.

Easy to install and helps keep track of hours run on my generator. I will now know when to change the oil.
