We have decided to homeschool our son. We are not fanatics, this is just the best option for our family. That being said, I really wanted my son to have a structured preschool experience. I am so glad that I found this curriculum! I am so impressed! What wonderful ideas Ms. Shaw has put in it! The layout and daily plan has really been thought through. There is just the right amount of content and time spent on each subject for the short attention span of children this age. Each day, there is Bible, a themed topic from God's World (My Birthday, Birds, Communication, Insects, Food, Five Senses, etc) - this topic is continued all week, Language Skills, Physical Education, Math, Art or Music (alternate days), Health, Safety & Manners or Character Building (alternate days), a Memory Verse and snack This truly is a wonderful program for children of the 3-5 age range. I wish I had BRIGHT BEGINNINGS when my children were preschoolers! I'm a home schooling mother of six, whose oldest, completely home schooled, child graduated last year from high school. I have a masters degree in school psychology and am familiar with many home school curricula.

Tammy Shaw has put together an incredible amount of information, ideas, and instruction in order for you to easily teach your preschooler in nine subject areas. You won't have to get a different book for each subject the way I had to when I taught my preschoolers. Tammy gives daily lesson plans that are very easy to follow. She lists everything that you need each day to teach your child. Her instructions are thorough and simple to understand - I would think that your teenager could very easily teach your preschooler with these books!

I appreciate Tammy's emphasis on teaching the Bible to your child by reading age appropriate amounts of scripture, using a prayer focus and including a memory verse.

Tammy has selected a variety of activities and ways of teaching the subjects so that you are not doing the same things every day with your child.

I HIGHLY recommend Bright Beginnings.

I'm counting on my children using this curriculum with my grandchildren!

After spending MANY hours browsing through curriculum for my daughter , and reviewing all of the "Greats" (My Fathers World, Sonlight etc) and discussing it with my husband, we decided to go with Bright Beginnings, and I am SO glad we did! It is very well planned, and very well put together. A HUGE thanks to the author for creating this!

This curriculum is comprehensive and easy to use. The author has done the bulk of the work for parents and teachers.
All I do is read over the lessons the night before and gather supplies. I used to go to several different preschool activity
books and piece lessons and activities together, now all I do is open these books and begin. These books have saved me
lots of time and the ideas are very creative. I am using this with a 3 and almost 5 year old and the activities are very
age appropriate.

This is a great little beginning book to homeschooling. All the subjects are laid out, and even if you've already covered some things, you can still get some good ideas. The craft ideas are very creative. I felt the snack ideas were pretty weak overall, but one or two of them are worth the perusal. Also, there wasn't as much music as I would like (ideally, music would be an every day item), but that can be done without the book.
Overall, for someone just starting to homeschool, this is a valuable tool. It gives a good idea of developmentally appropriate activities for a 3 to young 4 year-old. I think an older 4 to 5 year-old would need a bigger challenge.

This my favorite for teaching preK. Everything is laid out nice and there isn't much preplanning. It is very hands on!! Love it!

This was just what I was looking for! It is a great preschool curriculum that is extremely flexible to fit your time preferences.

The low rating is based not on the quality of the books, but on the fact that the whole set seems to not really be available. When I received this set, only book 2 was included. Customer service was fantastic, and sent a replacement--but again only book 2 was sent. I was told then they could only refund my money.
