A 'bright light' indeed..., September 24, 2005
This review is from: Bright Light Pt.2 (Audio CD)
Buried in the musical jumble of styles that constitutes the disappointing CD 'Lovesongs for Underdogs', "The Bright Light" was wisely released as a single and really pops on a disc all its own. Tanya Donelly gets an anxious fire going on in her voice, and when that happens to any etheral singer it's a joy to hear. The bonus tracks are also excellent: "Life on Sirius" has an eclectic, moody feel with an underlying smile in the vocals and "Moon Over Boston", written by Greg Kendall, is a sweeping, post-New Year's Eve Big Band-er with a pithy Donelly shimmering in the ruminations of change. One of her finest.
