5.0 out of 5 stars Superb soundtrack. July 13, 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This soundtrack defines this particular era of the 1980's. Watch the movie and you'll understand. Highlights are the original version of 'Good Love' by Prince and a superb version of 'True Faith' by New Order.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's an original motion picture soundtrack March 27, 2011
Format:Audio CD
I love this movie. I got the soundtrack on cassette right after I watched the movie. Listening to the soundtrack makes me think of and remember scenes from this movie. The song Ice Cream Days by Jennifer Hall sends chills down my spine when I hear it ever since I watched the movie. Even the biggest Prince fans do not know of the song that's on this soundtrack. I gave it 4 stars because it's got all the songs from the movie on it except for the title track, Bright Lights, Big City by Jimmy Reed. I am disappointed by that, but you can download that song and add it to your collection if you want to. I like 80s music since I grew up in the 80s, so I like this soundtrack. I wish there were more songs on this soundtrack, but as is, it is what it is, which is a motion picture soundtrack.

3.0 out of 5 stars aging 80s Relic December 13, 2012
Format:Audio CD
This soundtrack is certainly a byproduct of its era; firmly rooted in 80s music, and sounding a bit dated twenty-some years later. Some songs on here still sound brilliant, though, among those winners being the tracks by New Order, Donald Fagen, M/A/R/R/S, and even Konk's "Love Attack." The tracks by Prince and Depeche Mode are not among the better ones that either artist recorded. Bryan Ferry is Bryan Ferry. Fans will like it, but again, his single track on here is not among his most stirring numbers. Other tunes on here are nothing more a mixed bag of filler. Does anyone remember Noise Club or Jennifer Hall? I thought not. This soundtrack may bring back some pleasant 80s memories for some listeners, but that's about the only ones who will appreciate this aging 80s relic of a soundtrack.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed July 15, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Guess I just don't like Depeche Mode and the 80's sound of this film soundtrack. It needed more variety - - should have included Lou Reed's Brigh Lights Big City. Prince is a brilliant musician as are the others, but somehow it misses some vibrancy and distinctiveness.
