From School Library Journal
Grade 2-4?This adventure begins when young Garth Hunter takes his gerbil, Weebie, along for the ride when he and his parents visit New York City. Unfortunately, the boy is separated from his pet at a cat show, and fears that his small friend will become cat food. Through the intervention of some friendly mice, the two are reunited. The plot moves along quickly, and readers share the youngster's dismay when Weebie is lost, then joy when he is recovered. Characterization is enhanced by the fact that all of the animals can talk, and Garth can understand them. Black-and-white cartoons add a welcome depth to the story. Beginning chapter-book readers will enjoy this fourth entry in the series.?Elizabeth Trotter, Scott County Public Library, Georgetown, KY
