Bright Products Take Out Time Out Mats

Bought this product at the same time I bought the Learning Resource's Time Tracker (as seen on Supernanny). The combination has all but eliminated my 2 1/2 year old's need for a time out. He knows that we can now do a Time Out anytime, anywhere and his behavior has improved ten-fold. It's been extraordinary...

And while I cannot attribute his behavior change specifically to either the Time Tracker or the Time Out Mat, I do endorse their combined functionality. They work. They may even work separately, but I doubt it. The Time Out Mat simply provides my son a visible reminder of what awaits him should he misbehave or use a toy inappropriately. And he does anything to avoid it, yet he's cooperative when he has done something unacceptable and readily goes and sits in the circle until "time's up!"

This product is a good alternative to an expensive Time Out Chair. Still, it's overpriced for what it is -- a rubber mat. You could probably use masking tape on your carpet and achieve the same results...

I had to rate the "fun" level of this "toy" as low, because my 11-year-old special needs daughter didn't think it was very much fun. Overall, though, this is a wonderful tool for parents - at home or away! It's a very visual reminder that the child is being disciplined and every time we bring it out now, our daughter protests that she'll do better. Even our 15-month-old granddaughter recognizes it for what it is. Yet it folds up small enough to fit in a purse or diaper bag! These are going to become my favorite shower gift!

This Time Out mat is very durable and a great time out spot no matter where you are! However, it may work too good as my 3 year old wants to go into Time out to sit on it! The backing is a non slip surface so it won't slip from the floor or on a chair. It's not too big to take with you, but big enough for a 3 year old to sit on. If you need a little help with Time Out's this may do the trick!

I have twin 2 year olds who are working on their PHD in testing limits right now, and it was impossible to isolate one in time out without the other one wanting to peek and/or come join the other. But if I left the room, the twin charged with the time out would be anywhere but the time out location. This mat, however is magic!

The bullseye on the mat captivates them. Now when someone has to go to time out, I can put the mat in another room, start the timer, leave the culprit isolated, and when I come back he or she is still standing right where I left them! I bought a simple and cheap kitchen timer to keep the time and they know "when the beep, beep, beep sounds" time out is over.

I was really excited to get the Take-Out Time-Out mat. I thought that it would work, but my son kept getting out all the time! I would stand my him and make sure he would sit there, but he thought it was a game! I guess it depends on your childs personality as my son thinks that life is so fun and always a joke! Maybe it would work if he is a little older (he is 2). Otherwise the product was nice and i liked the little bag it came with! Will try it again with my other kids!

i LOOOOOOOOVE that i can take this anywhere! even has its own lil bag ... great idea, because i've learned when it comes to discipline its important to keep w/ it no matter where you are and this helps soooooooooo much! i've had MANY people ask me where i got it and many people express how wonderful it would be to have one (so i direct them here to get one lol)... love it!

I run a home daycare business with up to 10 children each day in Toronto, Ontario. I used to use the corner / time out chair however the kids were trying to make a peek a boo game out of it, licking the walls or getting off and on the chair for attention so, I decided I needed something new. I seen the time out mat on Nanny 911 and thought it would be great as I can take it outside, on trips or have it in the hallway where the 'time out spot' is now. When I first got it I sat all of the kids down and explained that this is the new time out mat, what it is for and showed them where it will be when in the daycare. Also, I explained that this time out mat will go everywhere that we all go and I make sure that they all see and know that the mat is in my bag. I also use it for when the children don't share - if you can't share the toy goes on time out until both of the children can agree to share it.
It is something that is worth the buy especially when it's so cheap. All I have to do is remind them that the mat is around and there behaviour changes back. I have also on occasion have let a parent borrow it over the weekend when they have to go out and are scared how they will behave - and it worked a charm. The parent has now purchased one and so has 4 other of the parents that have come to my daycare. I recommend it to everyone I know and meet at the parks especially daycares and parents that are having difficulties. I use it on Children as young as 18 months. I recommend having the children stand on it not sitting as they are usually quite happy to sit there happily playing with their hands or clothes. Just make sure you don't have it in areas that the kids play so they don't think they can play on it cause once this happens and you don't correct it right away then they think it is a game and it becomes harder for you to revert it back to something that is for time out. Good luck and don't hesitate on buying one and even one for a friend:D

My daughter is 18 months old and it works great. She not only was very interested in it but also understood what it was for. I've only had to use it a couple times.

I really like how this time out mat looks, not too pretty or fancy. Kids know that they are in trouble & will sit right in the middle. The fabric is durable & will wipe clean, also great for travel, folds up to fit right in purse!

I have to say I had no idea how much the children would respond to this time out mat. They actually liked a spot that was designated and it really helps deliver the the message of taking a time out. We don't use it for punishment, but a cool off spot. I bought two of them and I have loaned them to neighbors, family members etc. I don't use them anymore as my children are older but it is a non threatening time out mat that is fun.
