Bright Starts Baby's Play Place Play Mat

After reading all the various reviews on the Bright Starts Play Mat, I decided to purchase this for my 3 month old. She likes it, but not as much as some of the babies that get mesmorized by the ladybug! I bought it because we needed more "tummy time" with our baby. It made the dreaded tummy time go very smoothly. My baby liked the colors and the crinkley sounds on the mat. It's very nicely designed and I really like all the options I can create for my baby. The toys and mat itself are of nice quality, and she likes the hold on to the rings, look at herself in the mirror and is using the teething ring right now. Someday, when you're baby's done with it, you'll hand this down to one of your "good" friends!

I was excited to receive this playmat as a baby shower gift. I loved the bright colors, assortment of toys, ease of assembly, and its ability to "grow" with baby. We started putting my son in it when he was just a few weeks old, and it was a beloved staple in our nursery until he turned one. When he was pretty immobile, he loved listening to and batting at the bee, grabbing at the other dangling toys, and kicking his feet over the crinkly materials. The mat was great for developing early his abilities to track objects with his eyes, grab objects, and pass objects between his hands. He also tolerated the mat for tummy time and we used it to encourage him to roll over. As he got more mobile, we had to take off the bars and open up the sides of the mat so he could scoot, push up, etc. Towards the end of his first year, the mat became his little play nook--he would push toys and books into the mat, crawl over the side, and sit in it and play/"read".
The only cons are that the toy bars are pretty low compared to some of the other activity mats on the market, and they pretty much have to be removed if you want to open up the sides to give baby some room to roll and crawl around.

We had received this as a shower gift for our first baby, and we couldn't be happier with it! When she was only 1 or 2 months old, she would lie in it, just staring at all of the toys and colors around her. Later, she would bat at everything and try to grab them and put them in her mouth. Now that she is 7 months old, she doesn't use it much anymore, but she still loves the musical bee. I will put it on and place it in her pack and play with her. Overall, this product has great durability, washabilty, and is engaging for a baby.

I had avoided purchasing any item like this for our fourth child. Having been there and done that before, and having limited space I didn't want to waste space or money. My little man became very curious about things around him and I caved. I went looking for a cheapo play mat. When I stumbled upon this one by Bright Starts I got very excited! For the same price as a smaller more name brand version, I was getting a mat that would keep my Little Man safe too! He has just started rolling around and I can put up the sides and not fret that he'll roll away. We have rearranged it into several different positions and combinations. We even attached some extra rings we had so he could reach the toy and shake them. At night, our two year old grabs her pillow and blanket and curls up in it and falls asleep. (We carry her up to bed)

Just this morning our six year old was trying to make a tent with it! The sides removed easily for easy washing too. I have been very impressed with it's durability and would recommend this to anyone.

Love the colors and design of this product Only used for about a month when the baby was around 3 months, she liked the bee especially. With another baby I'm sure you would get more use but mine didn't like to be out of my arms for long. Plus once she started crawling It was all over. Maybe baby number two will like It too!

We started using this for our baby when he was 5 weeks old and within 2 days he was able to smack the bee around for 15 minutes at at time. 10 months later, he still plays in it everyday.

This is a really great play place for babies... especially for tummy time, since it gives a wide view of interesting things for the baby with the side walls. My baby really didn't enjoy tummy time much, but now she has a lot more to see so she stays longer. And since its adaptable to so many formats, it stays interesting for the babies short attention span :)

This was an unexpected present that I didn't know how I would have lived without. My son LOVES this play place. He has used it from Day 1 multiple times a day. He is now 6 months old and still loves it. I regularly change out the toys so he doesn't get bored. But this has been a lifesaver over and over again. When I brought my son how from the hospital he would only sleep in this or on me for the first 2 weeks. And now that he's creeping he loves to go through it. And when he gets tired he puts his head down and falls asleep. Best of both worlds. It's also easy to travel to grandma's with so he has something familiar to him when away from home.

I purchased this for my son when he was about 3 months old. He loved spending time in it, and it was very versatile and adaptable to his various stages. I also love that its easy to wash and reassemble the play mat when he drools or spits up on it.

After so many comparisons on which play gym/mats to buy for my baby, I finally decided with this. It is a bit expensive but I figured it gives you more bang for your bucks for these reasons:
- grows with your baby - from newborn until a crawler
- you can do a lot of configurations with this play mat
- there are a lot of clip-ring toys that comes with it
- easy to clean
- great for travel - without the two big things that hangs the toys
- can be used as a napper for infants
