This review is from: BrightFoods: Discover the Surprising Link between Food and Learning, Memory, Mood, and Performance
"BrightFoods: Discover the Surprising Link between Food and Learning, Memory, Mood, and Performance," by James Cocores, M.D., is a fascinating read on nutrition and healthy living.

Dr. Cocores is the epitome of an excellent and ingenious teacher, and conveys his knowledge easily, making it fully comprehensible to every layperson who reads his book.

"BrightFoods" is a book that was both beautifully written and absolutely thoroughly researched. It is a brilliant book on nutrition from every perspective, including the connection to the mind, body, and soul, written by a brilliant man, an expert on the subject for decades.

Dr. Cocores imparts his invaluable information based on massive research and experience, and also includes excellent, succinct chapter summaries at the end of each chapter. Dr. Cocores additionally includes several of his own nutritional recipes guaranteed to satisfy the taste buds of any American.

"BrightFoods" should be required reading for every American from the age of 12 (or so) on up. This is a book on nutrition and healthy living that has relevance to every human being, and the information contained therein is necessary to our health and superb quality of life. This book, "BrightFoods," and the knowledge imparted by Dr. Cocores, if properly followed, could, in fact, save lives. I more than highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mark S. Gold, M.D., January 22, 2007
This review is from: BrightFoods: Discover the Surprising Link between Food and Learning, Memory, Mood, and Performance
Substance Abuse Disorders, or addictions, have been thought to be the exclusive province of drugs of abuse, like cocaine or heroin. More recently, food has been considered a substance of abuse, with morbid obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other consequences the result of a pathological attachment to food. What we eat causes profound changes in the brain. This book by Dr. Cocores is an easy-to-use guide to recovery from the disease of obesity - a brain disease that causes shame and guilt and results in secondary diseases of the body and spirit of the patient.

-Mark S. Gold, M.D., Professor and Chief of the Department of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Anesthesiology, Community Health and Family Medicine Division of Addiction Medicine at the McKnight Brain Institute
