Great design, fair quality for price,

Here are my observations after using this bag.Design is overall excellent. There is a pocket for just about everything, and they work very well to keep things compact and organized. A lot of thought went into the design. My gripe is about the quality of the construction. This bag costs $129. For that price I expect premium quality on every zipper, strap and materials. The outside fabric of the bag is OK. The interior pockets and dividers are very thin material of poor quality. The velcro is cheap and often poorly aligned and stitching is mediocre. The handle is rigid plastic, it should be either high quality flexible rubber or leather. The piping around edges of bag is plastic and will likely crack with heavy/extended use. I'm sure they were trying to cut costs and save weight. But for a bag at this price point this bag should have top of the line material and construction throughout.

Brightline has a video that explains all the features of the bag (of which there are many), and it's worth watching. I bought this bag after reading a review in a flight training magazine - they rated it the best of the best and I have to agree. The bag was designed by people who fly - enough room for 2 headsets, a detachable section for materials or an EFB, pockets to seperate fuel strainers from your keys, etc. I liked it so much I bought one for a fellow pilot as a gift.

There is not much more I can say but this bag is by far the best on the market. I was extremely pleased with the quality and thought put into this bag. It is well worth the money.

Although I had a sporty's leather Bag but rarely used it when I went flying , purchased this bag WOW what a bag I can fit in two headsets all my charts my leatherman Wave , the bag can be split up into two for use as an IFR bag or a VFR bag . it seems to fit everything that I have very convienently. and easy to reach in the cockpit rarely will give any product a 5 star rating but this product deserves the fifth star

It is clear that a lot of thought went into designing this bag, and the abundance of pockets makes it easy to organize and find things. It should, however, be a little bigger as headsets fit a little tight and I don't see how 2 of the bulkier headsets (e.g., Lightspeed 30-3G) could fit. The large storage compartment would also have been perfect if it was just 1" deeper. Also would be handy to have some velcro and accessory webbing on the outside for mounting accessory cases.

Full disclosure: I'm a student pilot, post-solo, pre-cross country solo, so I don't have a ton of experience behind me to rate all the features of this bag. But - I do like it, and it certainly seems worth the price. I was a little concerned about a review pointing out that the construction didn't seem like a $129 bag should. I disagree - I feel like the construction and materials of this flight bag are top notch. It's not a designer bag with leather trim and such, it's practical and functional. I'm confident this bag will be with me for many years.

After spending hours and hours looking for a pilot bag that had multiple pockets and was designed for the iPad, I settled on the Brightline. Now it is not the cheapest bag out there but for the money, it has the most features in the most compact package. Being a gadget kind of guy, I love all the pockets. Right now I have something dedicated to every nook and cranny in the bag. Being able to downsize to a smaller bag for short trips by unzipping the large compartment is a big plus. I have a LightSpeed 600 headset and it fits just fine. I will have a problem if I purchase a second one for my wife because the 600 does not fold up as nice as other headsets. I believe that I will lose the top sunglasses pouch with two headsets. Two of any other compact headsets should fit fine.

This was a special Christmas gift for my daughter-in-law who is currently getting her fixed-wing pilot certificate. It was a perfect gift for a pilot. The fact that it splits into two parts was an added bonus. There is a place for everything that a pilot needs. She was thrilled!!!!!

Best Pilot Bag, no doubt about it...,

Without a doubt the best pilot bag out there...I love the two piece bag, in one I have all of my books (studying for instruments) and on the main bag I carry my Bose® A20 aviation headset - portable model, Bluetooth, my IFR Tri-Fold Kneeboard, my portable VHF radio, my Leatherman 830039 New Wave Multitool with Leather/Nylon Combination Sheath, etc... It fits perfectly in between Pilot and Co-pilot seats in my Piper Cherokee. The best feature are the color coded zippers, although I agree that the inner zippers could be better built. One last gripe is that the standard pilots log book barely fits in the inner pocket. Anyway, best one out there... trust me. |
