5.0 out of 5 stars prime late 80's NYHC
when I think of the late 1980's NY Hardcore scene, I think of classic albums like Sick Of It All "Blood, Sweat, & No Tears", Agnostic Front "live at CBGB's", and especially Killing Time "Brightside". not only is this a great album by itself, but Victory records re-issued this album a few years ago with a ton of bonus tracks including the "Happy Hour" e.p. and the...

3.0 out of 5 stars I like some of it...
Well, don't be fooled by the amount of tracks on this album, because Killing Time has some pretty short songs. I honestly only liked about a third of the songs on this album, and despite how short they are, I still somewhat recommend this album. I kinda recommend this album because Killing Time has a sound all their own. Their instruments aren't great, and neither are...

This CD is what coming up in the 80's and early 90's was all about. Check this CD out for killer original hardcore. Personal favorite is "telltale".

5.0 out of 5 stars Raw Deal, February 20, 2004

I saw Killing Time in the late 80s when they opened up for Sick of it All and they were still called 'Raw Deal'. Make no mistake, there is no 'raw deal' with them, regardless of the name. Great, classic moshpit HC from back in the day. This album includes all of the songs I saw them play as well as several others. 'Wall of Hate', 'Fools Die' both are great representations of the entire album.

I honestly only liked about a third of the songs on this album, and despite how short they are, I still somewhat recommend this album. I kinda recommend this album because Killing Time has a sound all their own. Their instruments aren't great, and neither are their vocals or lyrics...but it comes together in a way that I like. Well...in a way that I kinda like, since I only liked several song from this album. Anyway, I'm still glad that I bought this album. Just listen to the song Brightside and try to tell me that it's not good :)

5.0 out of 5 stars under rated hard core classic, January 9, 2008

thes guys were huge in new york, boston hardcore scene but no where else, short lived legacy but they earned your respect with their style. bands like crumbsuckers, sick of it all, judge, cromags, prong,& sheer terror were their equals but they always stood out from the crowd.this cd covers the original brightside cd plus the happy hour 4 song ep and the raw deal demos!if you like old school crossover hardcore buy it you need it, it's a classic but still refreshing & never gets old.

3.0 out of 5 stars Straighforward HC, March 25, 2003

Killing Time was somewhat obscure back in the day, and I'm suprised this CD is even in print.

Good, straightforward grinding HC. Shouted lyrics, anger, agression, its all here in clasic NYC style. If you like SOIA, early Revelation bands, Sheer Terror, Cro-Mags, etc, then this is up your alley, but on the other hand there isn't much new here that the above mentioned bands didn't cover, and do better.

Trivia note, I believe Killing Time came out with a more melodic second album... but I might be completely wrong... I'd have to dig through all my cassettes.
