This rating is not in regards to the album itself, but the quality of it. Do not buy this CD or anything from Ptg Records PERIOD!!! All of their released CDs are mastered from vinyl records and not from the original master tapes. They fade the songs out early to hide the rumbling sound from the vinyl. The sound is inferior compared to if the real master tapes were used. I was fooled into buying Atlantic Starr's "Radiant", thinking it was the real CD, but was gravely mistaken. Wait until whomever has the rights to the real masters to reissue this great album. Ptg records needs to shut their operation down completely and bring this deception to an end!!!

Brillance were one of the most "brillant" R&B albums of 1982 with the hit single "Circles" which was simple, groovy, and classy! It reached #2 on the R&B charts and for the first time, shot up to the top 20 on the pop charts, while the album topped the R&B charts (their only #1 album). Although "Circles" was enduring with the beautiful vocals by the beautiful Sharon Bryant, "Perfect Love" (#32 R&B hit), "Love Me Down" (#14 R&B), and "Your Love Finally Ran Out" were some great highlights and hidden gems that reached selected R&B radios in the US in 82"! My favorite from the lp is another Sharon Bryant track and the lp closer, "You're The One For Me" of which should've been a single on its own. Unlike some of their group counterparts (e.g. Starpoint and Shalamar), Atlantic Starr were mainly on the softer, yet sexier side of which they contiune to practice until 1985's As The Band Turns album. "Circles" was'nt meant to be a crossover hit, but it was the first of its kind and done very well and I wish the other songs I meantioned were as greater hits as "Circles." The other songs I did'nt mention were pretty good and good enough to own this "brilliant" release either on vynil and/or itunes download.

This CD will take you back to house partys, and for those of us who grew up in DC in the 80s, Sunday nights with "Kevin Slow Jammin' James."
