This review is from: Brilliant Windows: Poems (Hardcover)
I had the great honor of being in the front row at Larry Kramer's final public reading of his work. I was gobsmacked at the beauty of his poems, in direct contrast to the ruined pages of his notebook (his whippets loved to chew on his poems). This may be a metaphor for his writing. He takes the some what ruined world and reflects it back to itself brilliantly, making it glow with a somewhat unearthly light. While each of the poems seems, on the surface, to be simple, even common, none of his poems should ever be described this way. Truly, one reading is not enough for any of the poems in the collection. Therefore, I am going to have to get another copy for myself as I have nearly shredded this one by re-reading. If you want to read REAL poetry, get this one!
