5.0 out of 5 stars THE Freq Nasty sound, October 22, 2007
I've heard the name Freq Nasty for quite some time, but never really have given the man behind the dreads a try. Freq Nasty is Darin McFayden, a Fiji born DJ that revolutionized bassheavy breaks. But if you want background history, a simple google search for his name will suffice. The one thing I want to mention though...those dreads maaaan...they ROCK. He has the most standout, unique "look" about him. The constant energy and throwing of the hands in the air, the fact that he is white (although FROM Fiji, maybe a mixture) and has the most dreads on a white person I've EVER seen.

Now onto the music, "Bring me the Head of Freq Nasty" was the first album I've heard from him. It was actually the first one I got my hands on. It has actually happened quite recently. Almost a year exact, is for how long I've known about this man and his music. The album is not your average breaks album, it's a mixture of very funky breaks and deep bass, with funky basslines. A few tracks like "Come Let Me Know" and my fav "Boomba Clat" (gotta love that name, look up the words individually :-D) that have the most vocals in them, the latter being very "reggae" sounding, but also quite hilarious in its' sound.

This is a very great album, in the fact that it's energetic. You can listen to it everyday and not get tired of it for quite some time. Freq Nasty also knows how to make his trax fit for the party as most of these can be easily played at a big party that would call for some heavy movement. "Clit Licka" is perhaps one of the coolest things he's done on this album. Aside from the ingenius name, this is also an ingenius tune itself because of how it completely reconstructs a sexual 'scene' musically. Just for that fact alone, you should buy this album! Hehe, but really. I have been listening to this album over the course of one year ever since getting it myself and I can tell you that it never seizes to amaze me in its originality.

Freq Nasty is the kind of DJ that once you are hooked on the sound he creates, you want more of it. You will find yourself nodding your head to the beats per second of the said tune.

Absolutely recommend.

"The Missing Channel" is his newest album which is awaiting release date this year, 2007.

Apart from this, I'd also advise you to look into his live shows, and watch a few videos on YouTube, he knows how to get the crowd going.
