Not as good as I had expected...,
By Rachel Greene (Severn, Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bring Your Own Stereo (Audio CD)
In my excitement over "Do Right," I eagerly purchased this cd, hoping the rest of the tracks would be equally amazing and upbeat. Personally, other than "Lazy Boy Dash," the rest of the tracks are rather slow paced, dull, and repetative. If you liked "Do Right," you would probably be better off finding a single somewhere, or if you're REALLY curious, listen to a friend's cd before spending your money. This cd is definitely not what I'd expected. Though I wouldn't be surprised to hear "Lazy Boy" on the radio soon.

Too Bad I Can't Give it Zero Stars,
This review is from: Bring Your Own Stereo (Audio CD)
Okay, before I begin, I would like to point out I am a die-hard fan of JCS and have been for some time. It was in a time when the music industry was about to belly up and we were about to have Rap take the crown from good ol' Rock and Roll. Then, I saw Jimmie's Chicken Shack... and I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the sweeping melodies and harsh guitar sounds that I would never be able to label. The band was not only the most entertaining band I had ever seen, but their beats and their riffs and Jimi HaHa's vocals were able to actually MOVE the crowd. And so I eagerly awaited the coming of their 4th (2nd on a major record label) album, anticipating more unearthly rowdiness from beyond. And what do we get? Well, let's see... There's a bit of 311 in there, a bit of, uh, Sugar Ray... oh yeah, definitely some Everclear... Guys, I have two words for you: Sell Out. JCS has totally conformed into just another top 40s band just so they can get radio play. I really hope I'm wrong, but I would've thought JCS to be the last band in it for the money. A word to Jimi- Dude, this can't go on. Well, if you really want to hear what JCS is all about, buy one of their other albums, like "Pushing the Salmonella Envelope" or "2 For 1 Special." Buy this album only if you want a really expensive frisbee. Adios

I have just been turned on to Jimmies Chicken Shack and what better way to start than with Bring Your Own Stereo! The bands lyrics and melodies are awesome on it, especially on Waiting For You, I think I've listed to that song about 500 times today! I definitely recommend this CD, I don't buy that many CDs but when I do, it has to be great!
