Biography

From the greasy slide-guitar-and-drum-pummeling intro to opener “Crackalacka”, you either jump in and let Left Lane Cruiser take you on a hell-raising hayride or plain get out of the way because Freddy J. Evans IV (guitar/vocals) and Brenn “Sausage Paw” Beck (drummer/“trash”/vocals), a powerhouse duo out of Fort Wayne, Indiana, are roots-music revolutionaries who take no prisoners on their second… Read more in Amazon's Left Lane Cruiser Store

Editorial Reviews

This whiskey fueled two-man frenzy of blues-driven rock'n'roll noise straight from Fort Wayne, Indiana promise to hit you like a shock wave and show you a foot-stompin' good time. Left Lane Cruiser is comprised of Joe Evans on slide guitar and vocals with Brenn Beck on one big-ass bass drum, harmonica and a toolbox full of percussive gear. The raw blues duo of LLC have practiced through thick and thin to hone a sound unlike any other and have been together long enough to have previously released a couple of self-produced EPs. "Let your soul drive what you do" is the premise of their music, "give it all you got, and everything is an instrument: trash cans, paint trays, hubcaps, ladders, you name it." Learning their craft by playing at house parties, at the corner streets of their home town, and rehearsing in a heatless garage, they have developed their personal take on the North Mississippi Hill Country sound. They have toured relentlessly, sharing the stage with artists such as Robert Belfour, Black Diamond Heavies, Hillstomp, and Chris Cotton among others. They have also appeared at the infamous Deep Blues festival in River Falls Wisconsin in 2007. "Bring Yo' Ass To The Table" is the culmination of everything these boys have experienced as a band during the four years of their existence, it's "greasy hot, shaved dry, and crazier than your smokin' methed-up ex-girlfriend who keeps singin' ÔDown By The River I Shot My Baby' thru a two-dollar pawn shop mic she jerry-rigged thru that ol' gunshot black & white TV in the backyard and dedicating it to you with love m*therf*cker" to quote Deep Blues guru Rick Saunders.

This can be kept very simple.
Do you like gritty, heartfelt blues?
Do you like dynamic slide guitar?
Do you like inventive percussion?
Do you like whiskey-ragged vocals?
Then buy this album.
In fact, buy five.

I saw these guys in new haven 2 years in a row probably 3 years past at cafe 9 and they rocked the place. they played with the black diamond heavies, another band i would highly recommend, but they stole the show. got to talk to them afterwords and really nice guys, both former if not present cooks like myself. still love to play their cd in the kitchen

I have this album on vinyl AND cd. It's just that awesome. Hillbilly bluesrock goodness. Washboards, resonator guitars, paint cans, and a truckload of swagger. Great riffs and percussion, with plenty of raunchy slide guitar. What it lacks in production/studio-quality it more than makes up for with its straight-from-the-hip all-out rock-n-rollness. These guys were born to make this music and it shows. They put on a hell of a live show too, if you ever get the chance to see them. Do yourself a favor and buy this album. There aren't many bands that can bring it like they do. Quick story, I spent 4 days hiking/camping in the mountains Peru (no modern conveniences), and when I made it back to civilization (and my iPod) this album was the first thing I listened to. I have many albums to choose from on my iPod but after 4 days without music - this album was just what the doctor ordered. Play it LOUD and proud.
