4.0 out of 5 stars Dallas Green brings it again
Dallas Green brings so much to the table. His already amazing voice has only gotten better. It's also changed a little bit, it has a much folkier touch this record than the last, and it goes hand in hand with the songs. The added harmonica and banjo in a few songs could have gone so wrong, but come out so right.

1.0 out of 5 stars One for the morose hipsters.
As one reviewer states, this is a great album with a cup of tea and a razorblade. If you're a morose hipster who loves wearing black and drinking Starbucks then have it.

For the rest of us, these are the most pretentious, self-absorbed and ludicrously plebeian lyrics to come along in ages. Besides morose hipsters, the only other social sets who love to...

Dallas Green brings so much to the table. His already amazing voice has only gotten better. It's also changed a little bit, it has a much folkier touch this record than the last, and it goes hand in hand with the songs. The added harmonica and banjo in a few songs could have gone so wrong, but come out so right.

To be honest, I only love about half the songs, both those 6 or 7 songs are worth the price of 6 or 7 albums. The other songs aren't terrible or even bad, they're simply not up to par with the rest. The melodies, feelings, and all around musical prowess Mr. Green delivers on this album are amazing.

Astoundingly catchy stuff for such melancholy (for the most part) music.
The beginning two songs and ending two songs are the only thing that brings this album down from a five.

Really great record, honest lyrics that convey depth and emotion, and brilliantly written music. His voice is beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Sublime., February 20, 2008
This review is from: Bring Me Your Love (Audio CD)
I stumbled across Dallas Green's (aka City and Colour) first album while in the midst of a separation that ended in divorce. The melancholy tone and simple beauty of the songs struck me and that album-- "Sometimes"-- quickly became part of my music rotation. After the bitterness of the divorce ended, I still found myself listening to that first album because it was good in its own right.

Now, having listened to Green's new album, I can safely say that this album will be in heavy rotation as well. Green has branched out from his previous album (which was mostly just him and his guitar) to include a backing band (or at least percussion in some cases) or backup vocalists in some of the songs-- and it works very well in way that is reminiscent of Iron and Wine. He also incorporates folk influences, such as a banjo, and makes them work very well.

I had previously heard the first two tracks on City and Colour's live album, and "Confessions" was very good. So good that when I heard this new album was going to be released I hoped a studio version would be included, and I wasn't let down.

I have to say, though, for me the standout track is "Body in a Box." This song is not only beautiful but thought-provoking as well.

With two amazing albums under his belt, I can only hope that Dallas Green will continue to do what he does so very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding, Relaxing, and overall, Amazing., May 15, 2008
This review is from: Bring Me Your Love (Audio CD)
If you want real laid back, mellow, great acoustic music, look no further than Dallas Green, AKA City and Colour. The Canadian folk-meets-alternative musician creates an entire album of mellow songs, and they're ALL amazing.

BEST TRACKS:
-Body in A Box
-Confessions
-Forgive Me
-Sleeping Sickness
-What Makes A Man

I am seeing him on May 28th at the Jubilee Auditorium. I have seen him live when he was in Alexisonfire, and that was an amazing show (If you're into punk, check out Alexisonfire, they rock as much as Dallas alone). Granted, this is gonna be an amazing concert.

If you're looking for something different, then buy this NOW!!! What are you waiting for?

I've been a big fan of Alexisonfire for a number of years. When Dallas Green did this side project I was eager to hear it. It's completely different from AOF.

In most cases, when an artist comes out with a second album, it's never quite as good as the first one. This is not the case here. Bring Me Your Love is amazing. This is the sort of CD you listen to with a bottle of your favorite "beverage" and listen to every word and every last note. It makes you think about life, love, and the desire to find what we're all looking for.

Support Dallas Green, if you only have enough cash for one of his two CDs, make it this one. You will not be disappointed.

My favorite tracks:
Death of Me
Sleeping Sickness
Waiting
The Girl
As Much As I Ever Could

*as stated before, the entire CD is amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Waiting...., February 14, 2008
This review is from: Bring Me Your Love (Audio CD)
This CD is just as good as dallas' first effort, which is saying something. This is music with real emotion, not a kid in the tightest jeans possible squeaking about his diary. This album and his last are in a league of their own.

in addition he adds more folk influence here, sort of reminiscent of connor oberst.definately buy this album for whatever theyre selling it for and support one of the only true artists left in the scene.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dallas hits it out of the park on this one. Stellar, August 17, 2011
This review is from: Bring Me Your Love (Audio CD)
There could be many words to describe Bring Me Your Love, words such as "amazing" or "incredible" don't do this album's justice
as for all of City and Colour, it's haunting, breath takingly beautiful, that will leave you wondering why he didn't make music as soon as he came out of the womb.
I assure you on your purchase of Bring Me Your Love, regret it will you not

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!, July 16, 2011
This review is from: Bring Me Your Love (Audio CD)
I am a huge fan of Dallas Green. I love City and Colour, Alexisonfire, and his contribution to Neverending White Lights. His melodic voice generates true emotion. Honestly, I had liked this album since it came out, but didn't appreciate it as much as I do now because it helped me through a recent tragedy. It's a definite keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully relaxing, April 1, 2011

I have wanted this album for a while but put off purchasing it for stupid reasons. So I was extremely excited when I saw it was the deal of the day. I enjoy Alexisonfire but would not say I am a huge fan. However, I think it is impossible to compare Alexisonfire to City and Coulour eventhough they have the same singer. If there is someone even relatively close to compare this to I would say it has to be Dustin Kensrue but that is a little of a stretch. The first word that comes to my mind when I listen to this album is crisp. It may sound like a word lacking description but it is the best word I can use to describe the guitar and the lyrics on the album. The opening guitar on Forgive Me just drew me in. I listened intently from there excited about the sounds and lyrics I would hear but not being concerned if I missed something because I knew instantly this would be an album I would quickly return to. Every song on this album is a beauty but I quickly grew attached to The Death of Me. As I listen to this again as I write this review, I think it is difficult to even calim a favorite song as they are all great. The harmonica at the beginning of Body in a Box is also an amazing introduction to a great song. Overall, I would recommend this to just about anyone. It is a mellow album, with great lyrics.
